Sigma - Rho Chapter The official page of the Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, the only international nursing honor society worldwide. Welcome to Rho Chapter.

STTI is a global community of nurse leaders with members belonging to 486 chapters who live in more than 85 countries. We represent the mission of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing: to support the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide. Rho Chapter supports the scholarship and professional development of our members and offers opportunities to be active in our chapter through leadership, service, mentorship, and continuing education events. Membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and leadership and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.

Big congratulations to two Michigan Nursing faculty members & Sigma Nurses!
Drs. Amy Buckenmeyer and Latoya Brown have been inducted into the National Academies of Practice (NAP).
Dr. Buckenmeyer was named a Distinguished Scholar Fellow in the Public Health Academy, and Dr. Brown was named a Distinguished Practitioner Fellow in the Nursing Academy.

Sigma Rho Chapter & NSG Present: Healing Through Knowledge: Pain CE (LARA Compliant) 💜
Do you need continuing education credits for pain management?
Join us on March 19th, 2026 | 5:00–6:00 PM for an engaging and informative session featuring guest speaker Dr. John (Drew) Sturgeon, clinical psychologist and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Medicine.
This program will explore:
Biopsychosocial mechanisms of chronic pain
Psychological & social determinants impacting pain outcomes
Evidence-based behavioral approaches to pain management
Resilience, vulnerability, and emerging research in chronic pain
Date: Thursday March 19, 5pm-6pm
Location: 426 N Ingalls St, Ann Arbor, MI (Room 2250)

In honor of Women’s History Month, Sigma Rho will be hosting a month-long fundraising initiative throughout March. We will be accepting monetary donations in support of The Women’s Center of Southeastern Michigan, a local nonprofit dedicated to promoting emotional and economic self-determination for women and families. Donations will help support mental health services and community support programs for the community. We will be collecting donations throughout the month, and contributions can be made at the event. Every dollar makes an impact! If you would like to donate, we will be accepting donations through Venmo ().

Sigma Rho nursing honor society is seeking nominations for the annual Nursing Excellence Awards recognizing outstanding nurses in the areas of Nursing Education, Nursing Practice, Leadership, Research, and more.
We are also seeking student candidates for Student Leadership and Mentorship awards.
