I try to keep politics and world events out of the work I do. I see my vocation as a way to help people de-stress and take a break from the chaos of the 'outside world.' However, what is going on in this country right now is causing a lot of fear and anxiety, and I have been contemplating what I can do about it.

I know from personal experience how fear and anxiety dysregulate a person's nervous system. And I know that a dysregulated nervous system can have negative health consequences on all the other systems of the body.

So when one of my private yoga clients came into the studio recently and said, "This is my Sanctuary," I realized one way I could help others through this time would be to offer an in-person Mini Retreat (Zoom option available) full of practices to release stress, regulate our nervous systems, and build resilience:

💛Soothing Yin/Restorative Yoga Practice
💛Calming Breathwork + Vagus Nerve Exercises
💛Relaxing Guided Yoga Nidra 'Nap'

Join me for a pop-up *Sanctuary Saturday Mini Retreat* on February 7, 2-4pm. Only 6 in-person spots available; Zoom option available as well. $55. You'll leave feeling so much better, and with proven tools you can use on a daily basis to help calm your body and mind. Leave a comment below if you'd like the link to register.👇

Also, as the Facebook algorithm prevents many people from seeing my business page posts unless I pay to boost them (which I will not do), I would greatly appreciate any shares!🙏🏻

I just pulled up this blog post with the Wheel of Emotions on it because I needed a prompt to help me access some of my feelings. Especially if you’re a giver (a parent, an educator, a healthcare provider, etc), a Highly Sensitive Person, or you were just trained by your family to take care of others’ needs before your own, you may have a hard time accessing how YOU feel.

Sharing in the hope that it might help someone else out there. 💛

Find out how the Wheel of Emotions can help you get in better touch with your emotions--and take better care of yourself.

"If you can sit quietly after difficult news, if in financial downturns you remain perfectly calm, if you can see your neighbors travel to fantastic places without a twinge of jealousy, if you can happily eat whatever is put on your plate and fall asleep after a day of running around without a drink or a pill, if you can always find contentment just where you are, you are probably a dog." - Jack Kornfield

I had a newer student recently ask me what the difference was between the 4 different styles of yoga I teach. I thought it would be a good opportunity to share it here with others who might be wondering!

🧘‍♀️HATHA YOGA
Great for beginners and those wanting a moderately-paced practice. My Hatha yoga classes include plenty of strength-building, dynamic poses and balances--but also plenty of time for calming stretches and restorative poses to help you relax and unwind.

🧘‍♀️VINYASA YOGA
Best for students in good physical condition or with prior yoga experience. My alignment-enhanced style of Vinyasa yoga offers a practice that is fluid and fun, while also safe and sustainable. Increase strength, flexibility and memory in this heat-building style by learning the sequence and then flowing on your own!

🧘‍♀️SLOW FLOW YOGA
Slow Flow Yoga blends Vinyasa's breath-to-movement flow with Hatha's longer holds, creating a moderately challenging practice that emphasizes both mindful fluidity and proper alignment.

🧘‍♀️YIN YOGA
Good for all levels, especially those wanting a great stretch. Yin Yoga has been coined the "quiet practice". Stretches are held for 3-5 minutes in an attempt to go deep into the muscles and connective tissue of the body. A lovely practice to cultivate mindfulness and deep relaxation.

FYI: My upcoming 'Journey Through the Chakras' course is unique because it is the only time during the year that I offer Slow Flow and Yin options as your weekly audio sessions. Take advantage of it!👇
