Atrial fibrillation is estimated to affect up to 10.5 million Americans.

At the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, electrophysiologist Dr. Amrish Deshmukh presented late-breaking science on the irregular heart rhythm condition. His team found that taking the diabetes medication metformin reduced Afib episodes for people with obesity after catheter ablation.
