Our Story

The Lord has provided a loving place for older adults who have little or no family, limited income and for whom it is no longer safe to live alone. It is called Emmanuel House - God with us. There are two houses where Sisters lead a team of 40 volunteers who provide free care. Our mission is to uphold the value and dignity of the gift of long life as bestowed by God. We desire to support and share in all that life brings the older adults the Lord sends to us as they fulfill the purposes God intends for this vital stage of life. Loving and teaching others to love selflessly has profound life-changing effects on both the elderly residents and the caregivers. We have seen our residents open up to the love God has for them as He loves through us. They are amazed that they do not pay for care and that each person helping is doing so out of love - for free. It is the same way that God's love comes to each one of us. We have seen spiritual and emotional healing and their physical conditions improve under this selfless loving care. We have been privileged to accompany residents on their journey home to heaven. One resident was Baptized just a few months before she died. Our caregivers are also changed by the ministry. One said, "At Emmanuel House, I am really loving Jesus for Himself, not for what I get out of it. I am experiencing a deeper kind of joy than I have ever known before." Each month is a miracle of God's grace and provision. Caregivers do many special but simple things - taking the residents shopping, putting up birdfeeders- many little kindnesses that only God sees. We depend on donations to operate the houses and each month God provides just what we need.
