Our friend, Herman Pinkston, who worked with the Ash/Alba men for over 25 years passed away this week. We will miss Herman. The guys will really really miss Herman & his Sunday morning pancakes ❤️

Herman Dexter Pinkston – Pomona

On Thursday January 29th, 2026, the Lord called one of his best good ol’ boys home. Herman Dexter “Dee” Pinkston, passed away in the company of a dear friend of his. He was born on November 7th, 1962, in Murphysboro Illinois the son of the late Charles and Violet (Ellis) Pinkston. He was raised in and lived out his life in Pomona Illinois, nestled amongst the nature he loved.

He is survived by many loved and cherished members of his Chamness Care family where he spent over three decades dedicating his heart to caring for others. Survived also by many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, great great nieces & nephews, cousins, fishing buddies, drinking buddies, as well as many other extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother Violet & father Charles “Bud” Pinkston. His beloved big brother Charles “Butch” Pinkston, and his dearly loved sisters; Martha K. Pinkston, Georgia E. Jolly, Charlotte A. Boone & Tiny Pinkston.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local shelter to help carry on his love of animals.

Viewing will be Saturday February 7th
at Walker's Funeral home, located in Alto Pass, IL from 12pm to 2pm.

Chamness Care, Inc., Community Integrated Living Arrangements provide residential services for adults with intellectual disabilities in local community settings. Adults with an intellectual disability, reside in settings of eight or fewer individuals and are provided with an individually tailored array of services.

Chamness Care, Inc. was founded in December, 1993. Chamness Care opened its first residential site in Cobden, Illinois. Since then, we have grown to be known as one of Southern Illinois BEST CILA providers. We have customized living arrangements from 2 to eight individuals in a home.
