April is Occupational Therapy Month! It's a great month to celebrate all the amazing things that OT's do across the entire lifespan. While I'm currently working in private practice pediatrics, I've also worked on long term care, inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, outpatient, and school based settings--my longest stint being 17 years as a school based therapist. Many OT's have also worked in a wide variety of settings including mental health, home health, developmental disabilities, work/ergonomics, OT faculty at universities, consultants, and so many other places it's impossible to cover them all. It's what gives us a broad understanding of a range of complex needs and the ability to effectively work with a variety of people and age groups. I'll bet you probably know someone who's benefitted from OT. Maybe you yourself, your parents, grandparents, siblings, children, neighbors, or friends. Comment below how you or someone you know has benefitted from OT!
