However, this year Brooks Health & Wellness will be closing. I will continue to cater to my current clients I am training. This was a hard decision but I have decided to focus on other adventures and because It’s a slow time it’s the perfect time.

✨Is it time for change?✨

If there is one thing I know about this thing called life it’s that something’s need to change. I strongly believe that this pandemic has really did a number on the world and now we got Monkeypox running crazy. Looking up to the higher power, thinking to myself either your preparing for something greater or your teaching a lesson. Both can be beneficial but we don’t have to like the transition.

Change in people can produce new values, perspective and behavior. As like is being effected by the factors around us it brings on harder challenges and new inspirations.

3 things we need to know about the change in people is:

#1) Trust your gut. If you have a desire for change to occur then do what you have to do to make your vision come true. Tell people how you feel. Could be a friend, family member or even a stranger. Sometimes you just want to know that you are being heard. They may not understand but voicing it helps you make it a reality.

2. Support. Your change might come with some pain. You might not like it but it’s necessary for your own mental health. Sometimes it just takes a little encouragement or celebration for even the smallest thing.

3. Enforce it and be about it. Set up a self reminder that you got things to do. Do it.

Right now might be your moment. If you feel it in your soul and heart embrace it and move forward to embrace the change that’s coming or already came into your life.

✨What is mindfulness practice?✨

How many times have you ever started your day unsure how your day will go? When you least expect it, something doesn’t go your way, and you react with anger and frustration. I know I have. We all have but starting the day with mindful practice may help.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a form of mediation that you focus on being aware of what you are sensing and feeling.

We all have those moments when we start a new challenge or journey and we want to do tough it out. Have you ever started a diet and one day in your already cheating? Maybe you found a new trainer and the first day was so intense that you just decided not to go the next day? It happens more than you think.

The best way to approach the start of the day or going for your goals is starting the day with purpose. This in a sense is the start of being motivated. First thing in the morning take a deep breath and tell yourself that “Today will be a good day.” “I will do 30 minutes of cardio.” “I will prep my meal prep of the week.” Whatever you want to accomplish that day, speak it into existence. Say it with intent and put in effort to do what you set out to do.

As you go about your day check-in with yourself. Remind yourself of your daily intent and when you accomplish your goals set new ones. Reflex on how you feel, what could you have done different. If you gain frustration just calm yourself and reset your mind. Ask yourself what do I need in this moment to make this situation better.

There are so many ways of practicing mindfulness I could literally make a post about it everyday. Just take it one day, one moment, one goal at a time.

Meditating is all about bringing awareness to the present moment. It is also a great way to heal from emotional pain.

Through meditation you can ease both distress and anxiety.

Sitting with emotional pain can be extremely challenging; however the only way to conquer the challenge is by facing the pain head on and allowing the pain to flow through you to begin healing.

This mediation can come in a variety of ways, such as:

- Just breathe.
- Short guided meditation
- Spiritual meditation via practice of prayer.
- Movement in forms of yoga or tai chi

Don’t let the weather fool you.

I can’t stress this enough make sure, you are staying hydrated. Don’t just drink water because it’s summer and hot outside it should be a daily priority.

As suggested by all medical professions, drink a minimum of 8 cups of water a day.

Water great for quenching your thirst but it’s also good for flushing out toxins, help your organs function properly, and promote weight loss. Water is also needed to help promote muscle gains, in order for your body to receive the nutrients it desires it needs water to help transport nutrients into the cells. Water can helps prevent muscle cramps.

As we hit the peak of summer time it’s very important that if you consume alcohol you drink at least one cup of water per drink and electrolytes. Why? Because you do not want to get catch up on this heat and suffer from alcohol dehydration and possibly die. 🤷🏽‍♀️

✨We all started somewhere✨

We are half way through the summer and some of you are still going around telling people your gonna get in shape for the summer. Well let me tell you something, you won’t achieve your goal if you never start.

With that said as you begin to transition it’s very important to build a foundation. If you have never touched a weight in your life or exercise or struggle with diet, I strongly suggest you hire a good trainer and nutritionist. Why? One reason is it prevents you from learning bad habits and end up with an injury.

The most important thing to think about when starting your journey is knowing your mindset. A lot of people start out excited and ready to go. But when the work starts some develop this “I can’t” mentality. This will hurt you if you don’t address it from the jump. As once said in the movie, Love and Basketball, “ Can’t should never be in a man’s vocabulary.” Well ladies this goes for you too. Let’s change the mindset to stop thinking we can’t do something and replace it with “I will try or can do.”

Next set goals, track your progress, learn accountability and show up even when you don’t want too. Another important thing to do is be consistent. Lacking consistency will only bring you down and prevent you from producing the results you desire.
