Meet the team!
Thomas Merrill, Ma. L.ac, LMT has been a marine and a librarian, a bouncer and a martial artist. He started studying the healing arts in acupuncture school, where he was introduced to Chinese body work (Tui Na) in 2001. After realizing he preferred more hands-on methods, Thomas went on to graduate from the Western Maryland School of Massage and has been practicing and teaching massage ever since.
He has since studied cranial sacral, Zero Balancing, Barral's visceral manipulation, Fascial Stretch Therapy, Medical Qigung and Somatic Experiencing, and is a facilitator in using the Right Use of Power institute's somatic approach to leadership dynamics.
In teaching, Tom brings a grounded sense of learning through embodying, embracing all learning styles, and maintaining a safe and enjoyable learning atmosphere for all.

He is backed by the executive team who works from a distance to support Thomas and all of our students in Virginia to success!

Help us congratulate Mr. Garcia on this amazing accomplishment!

The AMTA honored him last week at the National Convention in Dallas, Texas with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mr. Garcia was one of Alpha's massage instructors from 1995 to 2025 and his legacy continues on through his recorded lectures which are a vital part of Alpha's massage therapy curriculum.
