Just like Christa’s beloved older brother Danny (May 29, 1964 - September 23, 2022) - who struggled to find acceptance in the world but was fiercely loved by his family and close friends - may you always know there are many in the world who have your back. No matter what.

In 1984, our “OG”- Bettianne - stood proudly in the US Senate as President Reagan signed the first national child support legislation into law. She’s smiling here because she defied the odds and helped draft & pass this legislation - from her townhouse in Vienna, VA!

Working with a small group of parents from her kitchen - our founder Christa and brothers by her side - Bettianne fought back against a broken, fragmented child support system that didn’t prioritize women and families. After years of struggle and roadblocks trying to collect more than $10,000 in child support for her own kids, Bettianne finally said “Enough is enough. I’ve had it!” And she got to work, not just for her own family but for millions of women and children across the state of Virginia and eventually, nationwide.

“Some thought what we did couldn’t be accomplished, but I guess we proved them wrong. This is proof a system that doesn’t work can be changed.” (Bettianne, 08/16/84)

It can feel tempting to give up, give in, and lose hope, especially in these very fraught times. But never give in to despair, frustration, anger or fear! Use your voice to fight back - like Bettianne did - and make change for yourself, your family, your community. You can do it, and we are here to help!
