The importance of yearly exams: this 35yo patient came in for her yearly exam without any complaints and and 20/20 vision. A routine retinal screening discovered stage iii sickle cell retinopathy in both eyes - a potentially blinding disease, luckily treatable when found early enough. We recommend everyone get a full comprehensive eye exam with an optometrist even if you don’t need glasses.
