A recent study examined more than 100,000 individuals living with opioid use disorder to understand what factors contribute to emergency room visits.

The findings were clear: individuals receiving medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) — including buprenorphine-based treatments — were significantly less likely to visit the ER within six months compared to those receiving no treatment at all.

The study also found that early intervention, consistent access to therapy, and coordinated care reduced both ER visits and inpatient stays. For providers and care teams, it reinforces an essential point: timely, ongoing access to medication isn’t just about adherence; it’s about preventing crises and saving lives.

For those living with mental health or substance use challenges, getting care is only half the battle.
Insurance hurdles, transportation barriers, or medication access issues can make recovery feel out of reach.

You deserve a care team that helps clear those obstacles and keeps you supported every step of the way.
With the right coordination between providers and pharmacy teams, you don’t have to face those challenges alone.

Every journey toward wellness begins with one thing: access to care you can count on.

In behavioral health, care doesn’t stop when a prescription is written.
The most effective care teams extend beyond the clinic, including pharmacists who help improve adherence, support transitions of care, and ease the administrative burden on providers.

In our recent webinar, Pharmacists on the Frontlines: Expanding the Reach of Behavioral Health Care Teams, we explored how pharmacy collaboration strengthens outcomes for the individuals you serve.

Watch the session to learn how pharmacists:
• Improve adherence to long-acting injectables (LAIs) and other essential medications
• Support high-risk transitions like hospital discharge or therapy initiation
• Help care teams work more efficiently and reduce administrative strain

See real-world examples of how pharmacy partnerships enhance stability, continuity, and outcomes across behavioral health programs.
