Hi friends,
I’m so excited to check in with you again during my sabbatical and to announce my “pop-up” clinic days in Annapolis during April and May.
☯️UPCOMING TREATMENT DAYS IN ANNAPOLIS☯️
I have a few spots left for my April Annapolis pop-up treatment days.
On Tuesday, April 21st, I will be treating out of Alexis Borowski's Sea of Qi clinic space at 132 Holiday Court, Ste 200 - just across from the Festival at Riva in Annapolis.
On Thursday, April 23rd, I will be treating out of Sara Jaye Fenton's Evergreen Holistic Healing clinic space at 801 Compass Way, Ste 217.
You will receive a personal text message from me the day before your appointment reminding you of the correct location. Please ignore the location listed on the automated appointment reminders you receive from the Vagaro booking hub - Vagaro will always only show one address regardless of where we are meeting.
During the month of May, I will be treating out of Alexis Borowski's Sea of Qi clinic space at 132 Holiday Court, Ste 200 on Tuesday, May 5th and Tuesday, May 19th. Please note that May 19th will be Blue Angels practice day. It has been an annual tradition for me to treat on this day in Annapolis ever since I first moved my practice to Annapolis from Washington DC in 2008. You'll find me in the parking lot taking pictures and videos between patients, and you'll hear the familiar roar of our Blue Angels flying over while you are getting treatment. There will be road closures at the two Severn River bridges at times throughout the day. If you book treatment for this day, please be aware of these road closures and prepare your route ahead of time.
You can use my Vagaro booking site to choose an available appointment time: https://www.vagaro.com/kmaa8r/services
Having trouble with the online booking system? You may also text me for help securing your appointment: 410-627-3387.
☯️CATONSVILLE TREATMENT AVAILABILITY☯️
My Catonsville treatment space is fully open and ready for you. This small one-room treatment space was built onto my historic home by a physician who lived here in the 1950s. It has an exterior entrance up three small steps and has a private bathroom. The treatment room window looks out onto the two 100 year old black walnut trees that line my driveway.
My availability in Catonsville varies by day and week deepending on my teaching and travel schedule so therefore, my Catonsville schedule will not be open to booking directly online through Vagaro. If you would like to make the drive up to southwest Baltimore County to see me in Catonsville, please reach out directly via this email or text (410-627-3387) and request a specific day(s) and time range. I will confirm if I am available.
☯️ SABBATICAL WORK☯️
My sabbatical work continues to be productive and profound.
After so much teaching related travel in January and February, I was thankful to be home for the entire month of March. It was so wonderful to catch up with so many of you during my three pop up clinic days in March.
The "Evoking the Five Elements" livestream class I taught during March was a great success! It was also wonderful to have some of my beloved patients attend. Even though at times I spoke in "Chinese Medicine" terminology, I really felt that the self-discovery through the lens of the Five Element system aspects of this class were applicable for all humans who wish to know themselves and their unconscious life path and motivations more deeply. If you wish to receive a copy of the recording of this class, I will continue to extend it to my patients for the price of $150. This will give you access to the recordings until September to watch and rewatch at your leisure.
I continue to attend my daily yearlong Mystical Visioning Intensive with meditation teacher and renown scholar Jeff Carreira. During the month's of March and April we are unpacking the works of guru Sri Aurobindo and philosopher Rudolph Steiner through daily meditation and dialogue.
Lastly, on a personal note, my kids' April Spring Break week brought us ever closer to Leif's goal of visiting all 63 National Parks before he turns 18 with visits to 8 NPS units in Southern California including Joshua Tree National Park, Death Valley National Park, and Channel Island National Park. Now Leif and I are tied at 47 of the 63 National Parks, and I have visited 207 of the 433 NPS sites.
Among my favorite memories from the trip were singing happy birthday to Aras, who turned 11, over his brunchtime California date bread; kayaking through the sea caves at Santa Cruz Island (though then my arms were non functional for 3 days after, so I can't do that before teaching a pulse class!); riding on horseback through sunset at Death Valley; and wandering about a mile off trail into the desert to find the place where U2 shot their cover album artwork for their Joshua Tree album.
Though the original Joshua tree in the album photo was damaged by fans and thus eventually died, there is now a plaque at this location asking, "Have you found what you are looking for?". My mentor Lonny Jarrett teaches about the difference between being a "seeker" and being a "finder" in the cultivational work that I am aspiring to. When someone first starts on the path, they may spend some time seeking. But, Lonny counsels, after 5 years, 10 years, 20 years ... many people are still "seeking" and this could be a sign that they are avoiding living into the truth of path (the Tao) that they have seen. They spend their whole lives "seeking" as a manner of avoidance and never commit to that which they have already "found". What they "found" may require a challenging and uncomfortable change in past behaviors or patterns. It may require facing into discomfort, regret over past actions, or making a decision to step into life more fully which could be scary.
My goal with this sabbatical has always been to, as Lonny says, "put my stake in the ground" and commit to deeply cultivating that which I have seen in the 20 years of my practice, no matter how fearful that unknown may be.
So, Bono, I would say, Yes! I have found what I was looking for - what I began seeking when I attended a snowy opening ceremony at acupuncture school in January 2003 - and I am fully committed to actualizing it so that through my work, all of you, my beloves, can be "finders" too!
My not so favorite memory from the trip was when my husband took us off trail for over a mile on our last day in Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area because he "found" a trail on google maps' satelitte photo that does not really exist. We didn't find our way down that path, but rather, we found a rattlesnake that was none too happy for us to be bushwacking "through the fields only to be with him" (are you signing the U2 song in your head now too?). We turned around and hiked back the way we came because, as Led Zepplin reminds us, "Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on."
With that, I send you all well wishes for continuing to seek and find on your paths. Please be in touch and give me updates even if you cannot find time to see me in the treatment room!
