When Todd “Hank” Wolters went up for a rebound during an away mid-season basketball game, he had no idea that landing on another player’s foot would set off a chain of events that would ultimately make him a stronger, more complete athlete. The 18-year-old senior at Saints Peter and Paul High School in Easton suffered a grade 2 ankle sprain—and with lacrosse season right around the corner, the clock was ticking.

Here is a series of three movements Katie Hogue of our Berlin clinic gives her patients for pelvic floor relaxation!
This can be good for most pelvic floor conditions to relax the pelvic floor, and is also beneficial for people who experience pelvic floor tension in relation to things like hip and back pain.
Each movement you hold the deepest comfortable position for 3 deep breaths, focusing on relaxing into each movement, and repeat each 5 times.
Give it a try and feel free to comment with questions!

"PT has helped tremendously."
Faith Leimbach is a gymnast and volleyball player who attends. Holly Grove Christian School. Gymnastics. She experienced a lower back injury due to overuse at gymnastics.
"I have been in physical therapy before due to a similar injury but this is my first time in the Dance Medicine Program," Faith said. "It has helped tremendously."
At school, Faith likes music and history. She enjoy playing volleyball with the school team. Outside of school and gymnastics, she enjoys hanging out with her cousins and going to the pool during the summer.

"Physical imbalances actually usually come from a lower back or hip imbalance, and overall correction is needed instead of just fixing one body part."
Washington High School's Jemma Horner is a dancer with D'Ann Danse. She dances in the styles of ballet, pointe, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, and tap. Her absolute favorite style is ballet due to its structure and movement.
She started Dance Medicine Therapy with our Salisbury team last May due to a clicking knee. "We found that her hypermobility actually made her prone to more joint injuries and has been working to build up strength in order to become a stronger dancer," notes Jemma's mom.
Jemma is dancing on the competitive level which requires extra practice as well as travel to competitions.
Jemma participates in the nursing program through the tech school, but is thinking about working as a vet tech in the future. In addition to dance she is a cat enthusiast, and has helped to care for a local cat colony. She grew her own sourdough starter and makes fresh bread, pizza, sweet rolls, as well as other baking. In the summer she grows tomatoes, and tends to a small garden.
