Rabinowitz Counseling Services, LLC

Rabinowitz Counseling Services, LLC I help couples effectively communicate to build and nurture their relationship.

Are communication challenges or negative beliefs about yourself affecting your relationships or work? Do you feel like you are repeating the same arguments with your partner instead of working together to find solutions? Challenges at work and conflict with your partner may have left you feeling guilty, inadequate and worried about the future. You might be unhappy with yourself, your career or you

r partner, but you don’t know where you can turn for compassionate guidance and support. Almost every individual and couple goes through periods when they wonder if they are making the “right” decisions for themselves and their relationship. You may dream of having a calm life and a peaceful home but need help to improve your low self-esteem, communication, relationship and/or parenting challenges. During sessions at my office in Pikesville, Maryland, I provide a safe space where you can feel empowered to explore personal and relationship challenges and discover your strengths and resilience. You can also learn how to reduce stress, increase joy and happiness in your life, communicate more clearly and restore a sense of balance in your life and relationship.

What do ADHD and attachment styles have to do with each other?
More than you think.
ADHD can make it hard to regulate emotions or follow through, which creates misunderstandings. But if you dig deeper, you might find that attachment issues—like needing reassurance or shutting down emotionally—are playing a role too.
In this short video, I talk about how ADHD and attachment styles interact—and how they can either build or break your relationships.

Why do we do what we do for the people we love?
Because when we understand the why behind a request, it turns a task into a mission.

If I ask you for a paper clip, you might not think twice.
But if I say, “I need it because a child needs that clip to keep a door open and feel safe”—you’re going to do whatever it takes.

🧠 This is the power of context and empathy in relationships.
🗣️ When you give your partner the why, you invite them into your world.
💬 And when you ask for something, ask with clarity, not just need.

📽️ Watch the quick video here, and if it resonates—share it with someone who needs this reminder.

Speaking to my neurodivergent and ADHD followers! 🎧✨
Do you ever find yourself diving deep into conversations, asking too many questions, and then noticing the other person pulling away? 😬 You’re not alone! Many ADHD individuals struggle to stay engaged in surface-level small talk—it’s just not how our brains work!
I totally relate, and in my conversation with Ian Anderson Gray on The Smart ADHD Podcast, we dive into why this happens and how to navigate it. My episode, ADHD & Unmasking, is all about understanding these challenges and finding strategies that work.

Ever felt like you're putting on a performance just to get through the day? 🎭
As Purim begins, I can’t help but reflect on the deeper meaning behind the holiday’s traditions. We wear masks on Purim, but for many ADHD individuals, masking is an everyday reality—hiding struggles, thoughts, and emotions to fit into social or professional expectations.
In my recent conversation with Ian Anderson Gray on The Smart ADHD Podcast, we dove into the reality of ADHD masking—how it drains energy, creates communication struggles in relationships, and leads to emotional exhaustion.
I shared insights from my work as a licensed therapist specializing in ADHD couples, including the differences in how men and women experience masking and practical strategies to help navigate it. One story that stood out was about a couple where one partner constantly masked their true feelings—leading to deep misunderstandings and frustration. 💔
Purim reminds us that things aren’t always as they seem. Sometimes, unmasking is the only way to truly connect—with others and with ourselves.
👉 If you've ever felt the weight of masking, or if you want to better understand ADHD in relationships and daily life, this episode is packed with valuable insights.

⏳ Are time struggles creating stress in your marriage? ⏳
If getting out the door on time, planning your day, or managing schedules feels like a never-ending challenge, you’re not alone! Many women struggle with time—and often, undiagnosed ADHD is the missing piece of the puzzle.
On this week’s Connected For Real Podcast, I had a deep conversation about time management, ADHD, and how it impacts relationships. We also talked about couples coaching and my book, Why Won’t You Stop Interrupting Me?, which helps ADHD partners communicate better.

💡 Burnout doesn’t have to be the end of the story—it can be a turning point toward greater understanding and deeper connection.
Being married to someone with ADHD can be beautiful and exciting—but it can also feel overwhelming. The constant juggling of responsibilities, impulsive decisions, and emotional ups and downs can leave you feeling exhausted and disconnected.
But ADHD spouse burnout isn’t just about being tired—it’s about feeling unseen, unsupported, and emotionally drained. The good news? You don’t have to stay stuck in this cycle.
✨ Start by recognizing the signs of burnout.
✨ Communicate openly and set realistic expectations.
✨ Shift from frustration to teamwork—your relationship is a partnership, not a solo effort.
ADHD brings unique challenges, but it also brings creativity, passion, and deep connection. With the right tools, couples can navigate burnout and build a stronger, more balanced relationship.

💡 Intimacy is about more than s*x—it’s about feeling emotionally close and connected.
When ADHD is part of the equation, couples may struggle with mismatched s*x drives, emotional disconnect, and communication breakdowns. These challenges can create frustration and distance, but there are ways to reconnect.
✨ Start with small moments of connection: Holding hands, hugging, and spending uninterrupted time together can reinforce trust and closeness.
✨ Open the conversation: Instead of assuming your partner’s behavior is personal, talk openly about how ADHD affects intimacy and connection.
✨ Make time for intentional intimacy: Planning date nights, engaging in new experiences, and using nonverbal cues can reignite emotional and physical closeness.
ADHD may present unique hurdles, but a strong relationship is built on understanding, empathy, and shared effort.

“Fairness in a relationship isn’t about splitting tasks 50/50—it’s about both partners feeling valued, supported, and understood.”

If you’re juggling work, home, kids, and emotional labor, while your partner expects more, you’re not alone. Many couples fall into old patterns where one person carries more of the weight—often without even realizing it.
But fairness isn’t about keeping an exact score. It’s about creating a partnership where both people feel heard and supported.
🔹 Start here:
✅ Have an open conversation about emotional and physical labor
✅ Redefine fairness based on what works for your relationship—not old gender roles
✅ Work together to create a more balanced and fulfilling partnership
If this struggle feels familiar, therapy can help you navigate it without blame or frustration.
