If your child W-sits, you’ve probably been told to stop correcting them.
“Fix their posture.” “Make them sit criss-cross.” “Don’t let them do that.”
But here’s what nobody’s asking:
🤔 Why does their body feel like it NEEDS this position?
W-sitting isn’t just a bad habit. It’s often a compensation pattern for instability. When a child’s core or hips aren’t providing the support they need, their body finds another way to feel stable.
The position itself isn’t the problem. It’s the signal.
Before you keep correcting the posture, ask what’s driving it:
💭 Does my child have the core stability they need for their age?
💭 Is their nervous system communicating properly with their muscles?
💭 Could there be an underlying alignment issue affecting their development?
Correcting the position over and over won’t fix the root cause. Understanding WHY their body chooses this position will.
Your child’s body is smart. It’s trying to tell you something.
Has your child ever been assessed by a pediatric chiropractor?
