We offer numerous opportunities to learn about your birthing experience through prenatal classes. The classes will prepare you for everything you will experience as you go through your pregnancy, labor & delivery, the postpartum period, care of your newborn, and breastfeeding.

Come join us February 3rd & 4th from 6 pm to 9 pm for our traditional child birth class. On February 11th we offer natural childbirth. Call our lactation department to register at 256-235-5142.

Our Childbirth Education classes are created to help you answer those questions and assist you with making educated decisions during your hospital stay.

Join us on 4/11 from 9 am to 4 pm for prenatal class! Prenatal education is the most effective way for couples to prepare for their birth of their baby and gain knowledge on how to best care for themselves and their babies after birth.

We offer monthly classes during the day on Wednesday from 1 to 4 pm, evening classes from 6:00 - 9:00 pm for traditional clasess, evening classes for natural classbirth from 5:30 to 9pm, and Saturday Classes from 9 am to 4 pm.

We recommend the evening or Saturday classes when possible, because there is more time to ingest the information and allow for questions. Please schedule your classes in your 2nd trimester (approx. 20 wks). Classes are on-going all year long. You must be registered in advance to attend the classes. Join us on Sunday, April 12th at 3pm, in the classroom of the Women's and Children's Center for our Stork School. This informative class hits the high points of important concepts during the birth of your baby. We strongly encourage you to attend. You will be allowed to tour the facility at the end of class. We would love to have your children tomorrow for our sibling class! It is from 9 am to 10 am in the classroom of the RMC - Women's & Children's Pavilion. Message us for more details. We will have a birthday party, tour where mommy and new baby will be while in the hospital. Also, we will share a few of cool things that will occur while they visit the hospital. We will do some crafts for mommy or the new baby.

Currently, 232 U.S. hospitals and birthing centers in 46 states and the District of Columbia hold the Baby-Friendly designation. Every hospital that attains the Baby-Friendly designation moves us closer to meeting important public health goals of increasing the proportion of live births that occur in facilities that provide recommended care for lactating mothers and their babies. In 2007, only 2.9% of United States births occurred in Baby-Friendly designated facilities. Currently, 10.5% of births occur in Baby-Friendly designated facilities. The Healthy People 2020 goal is 8.1%. Yes, RMC the 1st and only "Baby Friendly" hospital is one of the 232 hospitals!!!
