There are a lot of theories, books, and ideas about how to be successful at behavioral change and starting new habits. As a coach, I can offer some guidance as to what works for most people. It often comes down to getting support, over-preparing, under-estimating, and celebrating.
🐸Get support: find a few people who can encourage you and act as sounding boards for your ideas, challenges, etc. A health coach is a great support person!
🐸Over-prepare: people tend to jump into the action stage straight away. Having ample prep time makes for a better thought out and supported goal.
🐸Under-estimate: under estimate the size, pace, and ease of making a change or starting a new habit. Managing your expectations can help you not burnout if something goes wrong.
🐸Celebrate: take time to reward yourself and celebrate your success. We don't do this enough.
This post is to encourage you to think about how you want to approach making changes in your life. If you want some extra support, I am hosting a workshop "Building Sustainable Habits" on May 21st!
We will learn more about stages of change as well as other methods and tools for successful habit formation, bringing in elements of Tiny Habits, personal values, and Atomic Habits.
Link to register is in my bio under "Wellbeing Workshop Registration".
See you there!
