At The Recovery Hub, every milestone is a testament to strength, growth, and the power of community. One of our recent graduates wrote this incredible poem to mark his journey. It's raw, honest, and full of heart. 💚 We’re honored to share it with you:
Process Over Perfection
Man, I used to think healing came quick,
Like boom — I’m better! Just flip the switch.
But nah... it’s messy, loud, and slow,
A whole damn journey with room to grow.
I’ve faced my demons, hugged my pain,
Sat in my feelings, danced in the rain.
Turns out in the process, not the prize
Is where the real truth learns to rise.
I’ve processed losses, wins, and doubt,
Talked to myself and worked stuff out.
Learned that crying don’t make a man weak,
And silence don’t mean we ain’t got heat.
To Melynda my lifeboat, my solid ground,
When I was sinking, she stuck around.
Gave me a shot no one else would extend a hand,
Now look at me — a sober, grateful man.
And the group? Hell yea… you wild and wise,
Like therapy mixed with stand-up and a lotta lies
We laugh, we heal, we spill our guts,
You’ve shown me I’m more than my past, my scars my cuts.
So here’s to 371 days and counting still,
To growth, to grace, to iron will.
One day at a time, yeah, that’s really the key...
The process is the victory — and it’s shaping me.
👏 Shoutout to Melynda, one of our incredible outpatient counselors, whose compassion and commitment have clearly made a lasting impact.
