Did you know that about 1.1 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)? 🌷

🧠 This progressive brain disorder is perhaps most well known for causing tremors, but other symptoms include loss of vocal volume, sleep disruptions, stiffness, and balance issues, among others.

Thankfully, there are ways to improve Parkinson's symptoms! 😀 Our therapy team offers rehabilitation services to help improve mobility, range of motion, function, and speech for those living with PD. Call us to see how we can support you or your loved one.

What does Occupational Therapy look like❓

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the amazing therapists who help our rehab patients rebuild confidence, independence, and the skills that make daily life meaningful. 🫶

Thank you to our incredible OTs for the difference you make every day. 💙

💬 "I didn’t think I’d get back to where I am. I’m excited to get home to my dog and hope to come back and volunteer." ~ Doris

Doris came to us for physical, occupational, and speech therapies after a stroke left her weak on her right (dominant) side. When she first arrived, she was totally dependent for dressing and needed maximum assistance for hygiene and self-feeding tasks, as well as moderate assistance with walking, getting in and out of bed, balancing while standing, and swallowing.

Therapists from all three disciplines worked with Doris to improve her strength and functional skills, and over time and with hard work, she was able to regain her independence in all the areas listed above. 💪

"Everyone was so good to me and helped me a lot," Doris shared.

We love celebrating our rehab graduates! 🎓

Congratulations to Joseph, who recently completed his physical and occupational therapy program with us after a stroke. Through rehabilitation, he was able to go from a supervision with touch level in walking to walking independently. He was able to regain his independence in hygiene tasks and self-feeding and make significant progress in his other mobility and self-care tasks. 👏

💬"The therapists were very polite and had good bedside manners," he said. "I enjoyed my care here. Thank you everyone!"

👨‍💼👩‍💼 Leadership in long‑term care isn’t just about managing a building or overseeing a team. It’s about guiding a community that depends on steady hands and consistent, compassionate decision‑making.

✨ During Long‑Term Care Administrators Week, we are especially grateful for Life Care's Executive Directors who carry that responsibility with such excellence. Their choices shape the quality of life for residents who are often at their most vulnerable, and their leadership sets the tone for every caregiver who walks through the door.

It’s not glamorous work, and it rarely gets the spotlight it deserves, but its impact is enormous. 💗 Here’s to the administrators who show up with clarity, resilience, and heart — your leadership truly matters.

🌟 Employee Appreciation Day 🌟

Today isn’t about routine thank‑yous. It’s about recognizing the special people who choose work that can’t be rushed, automated, or faked. In senior care, impact shows up in even small areas:
• A smile coaxed out before breakfast
• A quiet change noticed before anyone else
• A story treated like a privilege, not a task

💗 Acts of humanity like these aren’t merely duties. They’re why families trust us with the people they love most.

To our team: your compassion ripples farther than you realize. We see it. Our residents feel it. And today, we celebrate the extraordinary difference you make by showing up with skill, heart, and genuine care. 🫶
