A recent study found that “Three in 4 Americans leave the doctor confused" and feeling that they need to do more research on their own, often online. This is why CCCC created our series of educational materials, designed to help guide conversations between patients, loved ones, and physicians, to better understand clinical procedures such as CPR and ventilator intubation, as well as POLST use and advance care planning.

Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) has dropped its health order to check the vaccination status or recent negative test results of customers for some businesses, including restaurants and gyms, as 80% of all county residents have been completely vaccinated. In some cases, such as places or events with 500 or more people, current state health regulations still require confirmation of vaccination or a recent negative result.

CCHS continues to encourage residents to get fully vaccinated and receive booster doses when eligible.

A new CDC report finds that, despite the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases and hospital admissions of the pandemic reported in January 2022 with Omicron variant circulating widely, the proportion of emergency department visits, hospital admissions, and deaths in relation to cases were lower than previous periods of high spread.

COVID-19 hospital stays have also been shorter with a lower percentage of intensive care unit admissions. Everyone can help slow the spread: stay up to date on vaccines and wear a mask. Read the full report: https://bit.ly/mm7104e4

According to the CDC, Subjective cognitive decline (SCD), the self-reported experience of worsening or more frequent confusion or memory loss over the past year, may affect the quality of care provided to patients. Aside from that, SCD may be a symptom of early-stage dementia or a precursor to more serious cognitive impairment.
