May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month. For us, it's a good time to say what we're actually here for. At My Roar Therapy, we work with children on communication because communication is how they tell the world who they are, what they need, and how they feel. If you've been wondering whether speech therapy might be helpful for your child, this month is a good time to ask those questions. We're always happy to talk it through.

Communication grows in moments of shared attention 🤍

When you:
• Follow your child’s lead
• Model language naturally
• Pause and wait
• Respond to attempts

You build the foundation for expressive and receptive language 🌱

Therapy formalizes these strategies.
But growth happens in everyday interaction.

Follow for research-informed, practical communication support.

We’re growing our team in Apex 💛
At My Roar Therapy, connection is a steady part of the work.

It shapes how sessions are led, how families are supported, and how the team works together day to day.
The work is thoughtful and relationship-based. It asks for presence, flexibility, and care for the people in front of you.
We pay attention to how therapy feels for the children we serve and for the clinicians doing the work.
We’re looking for a pediatric SLP who values being part of a supportive team and wants to continue growing in a setting that feels aligned.
If someone comes to mind, feel free to share this with them.
Apply through Indeed

We look forward to connecting 🦁💛

Spring is often when schools discuss evaluations, eligibility testing, and IEPs.

For many families, that conversation feels overwhelming.

Here’s what to remember:

An evaluation provides data about how your child learns and communicates.

IEP eligibility is not a judgment about intelligence.
It determines whether additional supports are needed for access to education.

Speech and language can impact:
• Reading comprehension
• Written expression
• Math word problems
• Following multi-step directions
• Peer interactions

You are allowed to ask questions.
You are allowed to request clarification.
You are allowed to seek an outside evaluation.

Support is about access not limitation.

Speech and language growth happens in everyday routines 🌿

Research supports play-based, responsive interaction as a powerful way to build communication skills.

You do not need flashcards.
You need interaction 🤍

If your child is not yet using many words, focus on modeling language rather than pressuring repetition.

If your child is older, expand vocabulary and sentence length naturally during play 🎲

Save this for your next sunny day ☀️

Every recommendation we make is rooted in research and clinical training.
Every session is tailored to your child’s strengths and needs.
Every conversation with families is approached with respect.

That is the standard we hold at My Roar.
We are honored to support your family. 🧡

Spring invites reflection.

As the school year winds down, many families notice what feels easier and what still feels challenging.

Communication development varies widely. But when barriers persist, thoughtful attention matters.

A spring check-in can help clarify:
🌻 What skills are solid.
🌻 What skills are emerging.
🌻 Where support may improve access and participation.

Neurodiversity-affirming care does not aim to change who children are. It aims to reduce barriers and expand meaningful communication.

You do not need urgency. You need information.

Around St. Patrick’s Day, we talk a lot about luck.

But when it comes to your child’s communication, clarity is more helpful than luck.

If you are noticing ongoing frustration, difficulty being understood, or limited progress over time, it is reasonable to ask questions.

A comprehensive speech-language evaluation helps determine:

What skills are developing as expected.
Where support may be helpful.
What evidence-based options are available.

Some children need time.
Some benefit from targeted intervention.

An evaluation helps you decide with confidence.

Trade luck for clarity. Schedule a consultation.

Let’s clear up a few common myths:

Myth: “They’ll grow out of it.”
👉 Some children do. Others benefit significantly from early intervention. An evaluation provides clarity.

Myth: “They’re being stubborn.”
👉 Communication breakdowns are rarely about behavior. They are often about skill, regulation, or processing differences.

Myth: “Boys just talk late.”
👉 Developmental ranges exist, but consistent delays warrant professional review regardless of gender.

Speech therapy is not about overreacting. It is about using evidence and developmental data to guide decisions.

If you are unsure, consultation is a reasonable next step — not an extreme one.

📥 Save this for when someone gives you “advice.”

One of the most common things parents tell us is,
“I just want my child to be able to say what they need.”

Communication challenges are not about intelligence.
They are not about laziness.
They are about access.

When children have reliable ways to communicate, whether through speech, gestures, visuals, or AAC, frustration often decreases because they are understood.

Research consistently shows that functional communication support improves participation, regulation, and connection across environments.

If frustration is becoming part of your daily rhythm, you are not alone.
And support is available.

Reach out if this feels familiar in your home.

This Women’s History Month, we are celebrating the women of My Roar.

The therapists who sit on the floor and celebrate first words.

The clinicians who gently problem-solve when communication feels hard.

The professionals who partner with families and advocate for children in schools and beyond.

Speech and occupational therapy are skilled professions grounded in research, training, and clinical judgment. They also require patience, creativity, and heart.

Speech and occupational therapy require skill, research-informed practice, and deep empathy.

We are proud of the women who show up every day to support your child’s growth.

When your child makes progress, it is not by chance. It is the result of thoughtful, evidence-based care delivered with compassion.

Help us celebrate the women who make this work possible.
