An imperfect solution to my perfection tendencies 🍩

In a recent therapy session I was able to look my perfection tendencies dead in the eyes.

For the 1st time, I could see how exhausting, stressful and impossible it’s been to meet this unachievable standard that I set for myself.

And how sad it is that a younger version of me felt that he had to perform or be the best to receive love.

Until now, being perfect was a coping mechanism to help me feel safe, seen, and accepted.

To recognize this, I am both grateful for the protective strategies that kept me safe and grieving what did/didn’t happen.

Now that I can see it, I know that I don’t have to be it.

Because now, I have a choice and an opportunity to show myself that I DO NOT have to be perfect to be good enough.

How am I doing that?

By eating donuts for breakfast. It’s a small example of titrating this experience and building confidence with action.

This is how we heal. One step at a time.

Ditching my old skin care products in favor of based products was the #1 best thing I did for my skin this year

I’ve dealt with psoriasis ever since I suffered a traumatic brain injury in my 20’s

Autoimmune post shock like a TBI is a very common response

Since then I’ve managed my dry skin with diet and lifestyle approaches that I now share with my clients

So, when a heavy metal test revealed titanium dioxide in my blood stream I was a little concerned

I was able to trace it back to a certain dandruff shampoo that everyone is familiar with…head and 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Thanks to I got turned on to tallow based skin care products and my skin has never been better.

This week the folks at sent over a sample of their moisturized made with tallow and honey

And I love this stuff!
