While it's natural to feel the urge to fight or flee, finding ways to soothe your nervous system is key to finding balance. Whether it's deep breathing, mindfulness, or seeking support from loved ones, there are ways to ease out of that heightened state and restore calm.

Distress tolerance is a person’s ability to handle and manage actual or perceived emotional distress.

This can mean using skills such as distracting, self-soothing, improving the moment, radical acceptance, changing how your body is feeling, and building mastery over our emotions.

Here at Simply Teens our goal is to create a safe space where we can teach teens and their families life-long skills to ensure success. As the world continues to present us with challenge after challenge, it's more important than ever to build your toolkit of coping and emotional regulation skills. In this group, teens and tweens will learn about and discuss emotional regulation techniques, interpersonal effectiveness skills, distress tolerance skills, and more.
