🧠 One of the biggest mistakes I see anxious overthinkers make is trying to think their way out of anxiety.
They stay in their head.
Analyzing.
Overthinking.
Replaying conversations.
Predicting future problems.
Trying to figure out the “right” answer.
Trying to gain certainty.
And honestly?
It makes sense.
Because anxiety lives in the future.
“What if this happens?”
“What if that goes wrong?”
“What if I’m making the wrong choice?”
“What if they don’t like me?”
“What if I fail?”
So naturally, your mind starts working overtime trying to solve problems that may not even exist.
But here’s the problem:
Anxiety is not just happening in your thoughts.
It’s happening in your body too 🤍
The racing heart.
The tight chest.
The upset stomach.
The lump in your throat.
The tense shoulders.
The feeling like you want to jump out of your skin.
Your body is carrying anxiety.
And if we’re only focusing on our thoughts while completely ignoring what our body needs, we’re missing a huge piece of the puzzle.
One of the first things I teach my therapy clients is this:
Instead of immediately asking,
“What am I thinking?”
Try asking,
✨ What am I feeling in my body right now?
✨ Where do I notice anxiety showing up?
✨ What does my body need in this moment?
✨ Do I need movement?
✨ Do I need deep breathing?
✨ Do I need to slow down?
✨ Do I need a break?
✨ Do I need support?
Because healing anxiety is not just about changing your thoughts.
It’s also about learning how to support your nervous system 🌱
The more you learn to tune into your body, the more you begin to recognize anxiety before it completely takes over.
You become less reactive.
More aware.
More grounded.
More connected to yourself.
And honestly?
This is why I spend so much time talking about nervous system regulation, body awareness, and anxiety throughout my book Aligned 📖
Because I don’t want you to simply understand your anxiety.
I want you to understand what your anxiety is trying to communicate.
