There are a million and one trends circulating about how to boost your immune system this season….supplements, powders, and all the fermented concoctions, you name it. The best immune booster isn’t in your Amazon cart though, it's in your daily habits. Before we reach for powders, pills, and “immune hacks,” we have to ground ourselves in the basics:

✨ Sleep
✨ Movement
✨ Hydration
✨ Nutrition
✨ Nervous system regulation
✨ Stress management

If the foundation isn’t steady, the extras won’t move the needle either. Pick one thing to start implementing today to improve in one of the categories above. Over time, these small choices stack into resilience, energy, and health even during the busiest season of the year.

Every year, we blame “holiday germs” or “sick season” for being tired, run down, or catching whatever’s going around. But maybe it’s our habits over the holidays?

Late nights, travel, allll holiday sweets and extra sugar, skipped movement, irregular (and minimal) sleep….your body is working overtime with less support than it deserves.

You can protect yourself this year with small, practical choices. For example:
💛Take a 30-minute walk around the block before or after family dinner to get in some fresh air and movement.
💛Eat some veggies before indulging in holiday treats.
💛Prioritize 7–8 hours of sleep even during busy weeks.
💛Drink a glass of water before another cup of coffee.

You were designed to thrive, even (especially) during the busy holidays.

Just me ranting about “sick season”🙃🙃 I don’t mean to be on a soapbox here and be long winded, but I neeeeeed you to know your body was created and designed to be resilient, strong, and adaptable. Let’s stop calling it “sick season,” okay? Don’t hand over your power like that. You’re in control!! Give your body what it needs. It starts with getting back to the basics: nourishing food, quality sleep, consistent movement...you get it. Your body is incredibly intelligent and always working for you, not against you.💓🌿

I think sometimes we forget your body is never the enemy. It’s never been against you. Even in the hardest seasons, in pain, fatigue, or illness, your body is still fighting for you...protecting, adapting, keeping you alive in the best way it knows how. That alone is something to be in awe of.

When you begin to see it that way, healing stops feeling like a battle to win and starts feeling like a partnership to nurture by giving it what it needs and trusting its design to do what it was made to do.

✨ You are not broken.
✨ You are resilient.
✨ You are capable of far more healing than you’ve been led to believe.

If you’re not sure where to start, begin with the basics: rest deeply, nourish yourself with real food, move your body, drink your water, and care for your nervous system.
Healing doesn’t happen overnight, it happens one intentional choice at a time.
And I’m here to remind you that your body knows the way home. 💛

Without fail, when I tell people I’m a chiropractor, one of the first questions they ask is: “Is it okay if I crack my own neck or back?”

Short answer: no, it’s not a good idea to crack your own neck....

And here are a few reasons why👇
🧠 1. You’re not actually "adjusting" what needs adjusting. When you twist or self-manipulate your neck, you’re usually just moving the already loose joints, not the ones that are truly restricted resulting in the discomfort you are feeling. You might have quick relief (thanks endorphins), but it’s usually doesn’t correct the underlying issue.

⚠️ 2. You can make instability worse. Over time, repeatedly twisting your own neck can stretch ligaments and make the area less stable. That can lead to more tightness, muscle guarding and discomfort down the road.

👐 3. Chiropractic adjustments are specific. When a chiropractor adjusts your neck, where we chose to adjust is based on a detailed assessment of motion, muscle tone, alignment, and neurological feedback. A precise, gentle correction restores normal motion without stressing the surrounding joints.

✨ The takeaway: That “pop” you get on your own feels satisfying for a second, but true correction happens when the right joint is moved in the right direction at the right time.

So if your neck feels stiff or tight, instead of forcing it:
👉 try gentle mobility work or light stretching
👉 and then get checked by your chiropractor to address the cause safely and specifically.
