Team Spotlight: Faith, Hope & Love 🌟

We’re grateful to the members of First Congregational United Church of Christ who walk together each year in NAMIWalks Fox Valley as Team Faith, Hope & Love.

The team says that “The Faith, Hope & Love team is important to us because it’s a tangible and visible example of how our faith community supports people with mental health conditions and their loved ones. Walking together as a team offers us an opportunity to get to know each other and share stories, often of difficult life journeys and how other people have helped us along the way.”

NAMI Fox Valley's family program team was privileged to have a tour of Outagamie County's new 911 dispatch center this week. The group appreciated the opportunity to learn more about how dispatchers handle crisis calls. We are so grateful for the service they provide to our community!

Why will you walk? Dereck walks as a way to give back. After a mental health crisis and hospitalization, he found healing through day treatment at Thedacare Behavioral Health and discovered the support of NAMI Fox Valley. His team, Mind>Matter, walks to raise awareness of the important resources available in our community and to remind others that even in their darkest moments, they are never truly alone.

Why will you walk? Amy Van Asten walks as an act of remembrance and advocacy. She walks in honor of her daughter, Kennedy “KK” Van Asten, whose 10-year battle with an eating disorder ended far too soon. KK was strong, funny, and generous, and Amy walks on team “KK’s Fight” to shine light on mental illness and help ensure other families feel less alone in their fight.
