This Cajun Chicken Étouffée is rich, flavorful, and made with wholesome ingredients that support your health goals.
Cajun Chicken Étouffée (Nutritional Healing Style)
Ingredients:
1 lb organic chicken breast, cooked and cubed
2 tbsp avocado oil
1 small onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp arrowroot flour (or gluten-free flour)
2 cups organic chicken bone broth
1 can diced tomatoes (no sugar added)
1–2 tsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
½ tsp smoked paprika
Sea salt + pepper to taste
Optional: dash of hot sauce
Cooked organic basmati rice, for serving
Fresh parsley, for garnish
Directions:
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add onion, bell pepper, and celery; sauté until softened (about 5–7 minutes).
Stir in garlic and cook for another minute.
Sprinkle in arrowroot flour and stir continuously to create a light roux.
Slowly add bone broth, stirring to thicken.
Mix in diced tomatoes, Cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Add cooked chicken and let simmer for 10–15 minutes until flavors combine and sauce thickens.
Serve over basmati rice and top with fresh parsley and a dash of hot sauce if desired.
