Dr. Dawn Diehnelt has enjoyed working as a dentist for more than 20 years. Although a native Midwesterner, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Washington in Seattle, and practiced dentistry in California and overseas before choosing to settle in the Chicago area. Dr. D, as she is affectionately called by her patients, completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa in Japanese and spent a few years in Japan studying its language and culture. She also earned Master's degrees in both International Affairs and Economics. Results of her studies and dental research were published here and abroad. Dr. Diehnelt is credentialed and is on staff at Northwest Community Hospital. She is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Check out our xylitol products!
Xylitol has been found to improve the bacteria in the mouth and prevent cavities. It is available in mints, gum, mouth rinses, toothpaste, and wipes for toddlers. We offer the Epic brand for our patients.
Xylitol has also been found to open nasal passages. Xlear is a natural saline solution with xylitol which breaks up the biofilm, reduces bacteria, and increases peak airflow 35% more than saline alone. We recommend this to our patients.

We’re thrilled to welcome Anya to our team! 🎉

Anya is currently a student at FVTC and has big plans to continue her education in chiropractic school. Until then, she’ll be joining us part time as an assistant, supporting our staff and learning more about the field along the way.

We know her passion for healthcare and friendly personality will be a wonderful addition to the office. Be sure to say hello and help us give her a warm welcome!

Did you know lingual wires, often placed by an orthodontist to prevent teeth from moving after braces, can be a cause for headaches?

This is because the wire is preventing the natural flexion and contraction of the cranium and creates tension, resulting in headaches.

We have had a great amount of success and interest in our patients getting their wires removed and continuing on headache free. Not to mention, your floss game just got a whole lot easier too! 😉
