Services offered include: Jin Shou Tuina (Chinese Medical Massage), CranioSacral Therapy, and Sound Therapy. Abundant Heaven Tuina is a member clinic affiliated with the North American Tang Shou Tao Association (www.natsta.org). The mission of the North American Tang Shou Tao Association Cooperative (NATSTA) is the preservation, research, and dissemination of the traditional Chinese martial and me
dical arts. Tuina is Chinese Medical Massage, based on the theory and practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Tuina can produce profound healing effects due to its ability to release restrictions in tissues, muscles, and fascia; affecting energetic channels and meridians, thereby changing posture and structure; while also affecting the strength and function of internal organs. "Jin Shou" means "golden hands". Jin Shou Tuina is a potent lineage of Tuina that has been passed down directly from teacher to student. The strength and efficacy of Jin Shou Tuina is based on the practitioner cultivating a dedicated martial arts and energy practice, utilizing these principles and the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine in treatments. How is Jin Shou Tuina different from other types of massage therapy? As an application of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jin Shou Tuina is as effective or in some cases more effective than other methods (ie. acupuncture, herbal medicine). The defining factor is that in Jin Shou Tuina, as in my practice of CranioSacral Therapy, the goal is to address the root cause of imbalance or disease. When addressing underlying causes of imbalance, manifestations of imbalance (the symptoms one experiences - such as pain, hot flashes, depression, etc.) can change, lessen or disappear altogether. What is Cranial Sacral Therapy? Craniosacral Therapy is light touch, hands-on therapy applied to the body to regulate, balance, and release restrictions in the craniosacral system, which includes the brain, the spinal cord, and the cerebrospinal fluid. According to the Upledger Institute, Craniosacral Therapy both responds to and produces changes in the following systems:
the nervous system
the musculoskeletal system
the vascular system
the lymphatic system
the endocrine system
the respiratory system
Craniosacral therapy is also effective in releasing the residual effects of trauma from the body and mind, which often go untreated causing chronic disease and pain. The beauty of Craniosacral therapy is that while subtle and gentle, it can produce profound and lasting healing effects through the entire body. What is Sound Therapy? The brain responds electrically to rhythmic sensory stimulation like sound and vibration. These electrical responses can resemble the natural internal rhythms of the brain, thereby harmonizing with and affecting brainwaves. Tuning forks and singing bowls produce binaural beats, resulting from the interaction of two different frequencies, each heard in a different ear. Binaural beats, depending on the frequency (Hz) are proven to either produce states of relaxation (such as meditation, stress reduction, pain management, and improved sleep quality) or states of stimulation (enhanced creativity, enhanced intuition, improved cognitive function, and synchronization of brain hemispheres). Through the use of tuning forks and singing bowls, deep healing states can be encouraged. Sound therapy can be used in conjunction with Jin Shou Tuina and Craniosacral Therapy or as a stand-alone therapeutic modality. Treatments at Abundant Heaven Tuina
Every treatment is custom tailored to each person's unique needs, history, and health goals. The practice of Jin Shou Tuina is founded in the conceptual framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Diagnosis, treatment principles, corresponding healing modalities, and the specific therapeutic techniques utilized aim to restore natural balance to the body, mind, and spirit through addressing the roots and branches of dis -ease patterns. Aiding the body in returning to and maintaining a natural state of homeostasis, allows the body and mind to heal itself.
