The official page of the Domino® Sugar Chalmette Refinery, the largest cane sugar refinery in the Western Hemisphere, in operation on the Mississippi River since 1909. In operation on the Mississippi River for more than 115 years, our refinery has a capacity to produce up to 6 million pounds of sugar each day. Our 500 employees produce 70 types, grades, and package sizes of sugar. We sustain an additional 100 jobs through trucking, terminal operations, cargo handling and ship piloting. We are proud to support dozens of local nonprofits dedicated to STEM education, health and feeding initiatives and environmental stewardship, as well as to sponsor local civic and cultural events.
