The pendulum is special because you really have to think about and engage with what you are asking. I suggest starting with yes or no and then moving onto something you really want to know. My boards offer more then yes or no because they have 'big picture' answers.
Divination works best with two active participants. The querent, or readee needs to ponder what's at the heart of their anxiety. Or what do they really need to know.
Floundering to state your intention means your unprepared to engage with the energies that can provide you wisdom.
Thoughtful intent is welcome. If your a spiritual person you might find the seed of your issue easier then if not.
Yes or no questions to ask Pendulum. Need to be specific and to the point.

Yes or no questions are an art. Can anyone think of any that would be particularly and deeply connected with the soul.

For example:
Am I being initiated into the devotee's of Hecate?

Does the spirit I feel around me try to message me?

Just a poem from years ago that I matched with something in my art journal. I think we all have a relationship with pain in life, and how we cope is what makes us an individual. I'm trying to set up a business that will help you learn you, and your journey.
I home make Pendulum Boards, and do readings with them and my automatic writing.

Free

I put my pain in a box and mailed it to me,
So I can be the one that set's it free.
So I can shoulder being one year older
So I can fly and not have to hide.
from the pain....now on the outside.

Fly free, fly free
Just me, that's who I'll forever be

I leave my tears in my heart and close them inside.
So I can feel them and not have to hide.
Sew the boundaries around my past
fly hard but not to fast

Offering a one of a kind piece of artwork, that contains divining keys on the back. Unique and obscure, offering connection to the divine. For me think lateral is key, even without the Pendulum telling me. It's a way out of repetition. I ask if someone who has passed is trying to get me to realize this lesson as it seems a loud one today. I am trying to get a tunnel of connection to the divine. If any of the words speaks to you tell me why and who you think of in the process.

Thinking today on loss, the guilt at a measure of relief. The largeness of it sends surprise attack. The desire for contact from an alternate side. The loss of others coincide, sharing grief doesn't always dull the pain.
