☀️Summer Travel Tips: Keep your bleeding disorders medications at the right temperature!

In addition to traveling with ample supplies, it is vital to maintain a safe temperature for your medication as you travel.

🌡️Protect your medication from extreme temperatures. Some medications may become inactive if they exceed a certain temperature.

❄️ Once it's out, keep it out. Some refrigerated medications may be removed from the fridge and stored at room temperature for a certain amount of time. However, it is critical to not return meds to the fridge if they've reached room temperature.

Remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper storage and always maintain a safe, consistent temperature for your medication.

Today is World Hemophilia Day! This year’s theme is “Access for all: Women and girls bleed too."

Today, across the world, women and girls with bleeding disorders are still underdiagnosed and underserved. Through recognition, diagnosis, treatment, and care, the quality of life of women and girls will improve, and the bleeding disorders community will become stronger.

Hemophilia treatment update:

Takeda has decided to globally discontinue HEMOFIL® M [Antihemophilic Factor (Human), Method M, Monoclonal Purified] and RECOMBINATE® [Antihemophilic Factor (Recombinant)]. Takeda intends to supply HEMOFIL M and RECOMBINATE to patients already receiving these medicines until inventory is depleted or expired in mid-2026.

Ask Our Experts: Standard Half-life vs. Extended Half-life

"Half-life" refers to how long it takes for a replacement clotting factor to decrease by half inside your body. Many different Standard Half-life (SHL) and Extended Half-life (EHL) medications are available for both hemophilia A and hemophilia B. Here's the difference:

Prophylactic treatment with SHL products are typically infused three to four times a week due to an approximate half-life of 8-12 hours.

Prophylactic treatment with EHL products means that the factor can stay in the blood for longer. For many patients, this means being able to have factor injections less often.

Overall, many treatments are available today and it's best to work with your medical team to find the treatment that works best for you!
