Everyone has their favorite dishes to serve during the holidays. We have selected a few healthy sides with added color and flavor to add to your menu.

Ginger-Chile Roasted Acorn Squash | Add fresh ginger, Fresno chili and pomegranate to give a festive kick.

Pan Roasted Vegetables | Mix colorful root vegetables, olive oil and bake.

Sweet Potato Stacks with Sage Browned Butter | Stack sliced sweet potatoes, parmesan cheese and butter in muffin cups. They are pretty and tasty.

Did you know that hemophilia is a rare bleeding disorder that affects about 1 in 10,000 people?

Here are some key facts about this condition that can help you better understand it:
•Hemophilia is an inherited disorder that affects the blood’s ability to clot properly. People with hemophilia are missing or have low levels of certain clotting factors, which can cause them to bleed more easily than normal.
•There are two main types of hemophilia: hemophilia A and hemophilia B. Hemophilia A is the more common type, affecting about 80% of people with hemophilia. Hemophilia B affects about 20% of people with the condition.
•Symptoms of hemophilia can vary depending on the severity of the condition, but may include excessive bleeding from cuts or injuries, bleeding into joints or muscles, and prolonged bleeding after surgery or dental procedures.
• Hemophilia is typically diagnosed through a blood test that measures clotting factor levels. Treatment options may include clotting factor replacement therapy, which involves infusing clotting factors into the bloodstream to help stop bleeding, as well as other supportive measures such as pain management and physical therapy.

While there is no cure for hemophilia, advances in treatment options have greatly improved the outlook for people with the condition. With proper treatment and management, people with hemophilia can lead full and active lives.

The onset of adolescence can be sudden or slow, but regardless, it comes with a host of physical changes. And for girls who have bleeding disorders, there are extra considerations. Thankfully, there’s a new National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) book that addresses these issues in an approachable and clear way.

The book, Time to Talk Puberty: A Guide for Girls with Bleeding Disorders, provides a comprehensive overview of bleeding disorders, how they are affected in puberty, treatment options, and tips and tricks. While it’s important that girls with bleeding disorders have an open dialogue with their doctors, the book will be a nice accompaniment to those face-to-face discussions, says Robert Sidonio Jr., MD, MSc, director of hemostasis and thrombosis clinical operations at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Emory University in Atlanta.
