Couldn't put it down!
Dr. Bull is a brilliant woman and this book is very insightful of the anger and feelings that circulate through people. One of my new favorite authors. I hope there is more to come from this brilliant psychologist.

Thank you Samobu

The Road Most Traveled, My Journey with People of the Lie. In our very stressful and violent times I use my years of teaching and lecturing about anger management and anxiety to help you learn how to be a calmer, kinder, and more loving person.

The Psychotherapists Journey
I see your white glistening valley stretched ahead of me. The shimmering snow beckons me to touch, to feel, to surrender myself to its softness. Much as I long to put my prints upon the freshly fallen beauty of it, I know deep within me that unless I am wanted, the print is a temporary mark that is gone by Spring leaving no trace. If you allow me to touch below that surface to the solid earth that is your core, the mark is eternal and we both are changed deeply by the touching.

I love this quote by the late psychologist, Carl Rogers, “As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has — or ever will have — something inside that is unique to all time." Dr. Rogers, along with Dr. Erich Fromm, were two of my favorite psychologists.

Kindness, sharing, and love all year long.

I love this quote by the late psychoanalyst, Erich Fromm, and want to share it with my readers:

“Love isn't something natural. Rather it requires discipline, concentration, patience, faith, and the overcoming of narcissism. It isn't a feeling, it is a practice.”

― Fromm, Eric, The Art of Loving

I had the honor to meet this brilliant man while I was a student at Berkeley. I wanted to share some of his observations with my Facebook friends. Thank you.

Erich Fromm, a neo-Freudian psychoanalyst, wrote about many topics related to human existence, including anger, love, and the need for belonging.
Anger and related topics
Moral indignation
Fromm said that moral indignation is a destructive feeling that allows people to act out envy or hate while pretending to be virtuous.
Respecting others
Fromm said that to respect someone, you must know them, and that knowledge is motivated by concern.
Personality
Fromm believed that people develop personality styles to deal with anxiety caused by feelings of isolation.
Other quotes by Erich Fromm
"Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence".
"There is no meaning to life except the meaning man gives his life by the unfolding of his powers".
"One of the worst forms of mental suffering is boredom, not knowing what to do with oneself and one's life".
"There is nothing inhuman, evil, or irrational which does not give some comfort, provided it is shared by a group".
