What is Stress Urinary Incontinence?

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a leakage of urine during moments of physical activity that increases abdominal pressure, such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercise. SUI is the most common type of urinary incontinence in women. SUI can happen when pelvic tissues and muscles, which support the bladder and urethra, become weak and allow the bladder "neck" (where the bladder and urethra intersect) to descend during bursts of physical activity. SUI can also occur when the sphincter muscle that controls the urethra weakens. Weakness may occur from pregnancy, childbirth, aging, or prior pelvic surgery. Other risk factors for SUI include chronic coughing or straining, obesity and smoking.

Can Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy Help with Sleep Problems?

Yes, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) can help improve sleep quality, particularly for individuals experiencing sleep disturbances due to hormonal imbalances. Hormones like estrogen and progesterone play a significant role in regulating sleep patterns, and a decline in these hormones especially during menopause can lead to insomnia, frequent night waking, and poor sleep quality. BHRT works by replenishing these hormones, helping to restore normal sleep cycles and improve overall sleep quality. Many patients notice an improvement in their ability to fall asleep and stay asleep within weeks of starting BHRT. Progesterone, in particular, has a calming effect on the body, acting as a natural sleep aid by promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety. By restoring progesterone levels, BHRT can help individuals achieve deeper, more restorative sleep. Improved sleep quality not only helps alleviate fatigue but also contributes to better mood regulation, cognitive function, and overall well-being. For individuals struggling with chronic sleep problems due to hormonal imbalances, BHRT offers a natural and effective solution to improving sleep patterns and enhancing daily functioning.

Can Men Benefit from Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Yes, men can benefit from Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT). BHRT for men typically involves the use of bioidentical testosterone to treat symptoms of low testosterone, also known as andropause or male menopause. Symptoms of low testosterone in men can include fatigue, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, loss of muscle mass, increased body fat, mood swings, and cognitive decline. By restoring testosterone levels to a more youthful range, BHRT can help alleviate these symptoms and improve overall quality of life. Men undergoing BHRT often experience increased energy levels, improved sexual function, enhanced mood, better muscle strength, and reduced body fat. BHRT is personalized to each individual's needs, with hormone levels monitored regularly to ensure optimal dosing and effectiveness. It is important for men considering BHRT to consult with a healthcare provider to determine if it is appropriate for their specific situation and to manage the therapy safely.

Is It Menopause?

If you are having symptoms that are common during menopause, your doctor may ask questions about your age, symptoms, and family history to determine if it is the menopausal transition causing your problems. In some cases, your doctor may suggest a blood test to check your follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol (E2) levels to rule out any other causes for the changes you're experiencing.

While the menopausal transition may commonly be referred to as "menopause", true menopause doesn't happen until one year after a woman's final menstrual period. For that reason, a woman who does not want to get pregnant should continue to use birth control for at least a full 12 months after her last period.

What Is Monalisa Touch?

As women age, their estrogen levels will decrease after menopause, causing your vaginal tissue to become drier, and thinner and can even cause it to become inflamed, which can lead to burning, itching, discomfort and sometimes bleeding, this is called vaginal atrophy. If you have vaginal atrophy, you may experience the following:

Painful in*******se
Vaginal discomfort and bleeding
Frequent urinary tract infections
Stress Urinary Incontinence (which is when leakage happens due to stress)
Lichen sclerosis (which is a common postmenopausal skin condition)
Frequent urinary tract infections

A treatment package with our MonaLisa Touch machine can help reverse many of these conditions as well as others that are related to menopause-related vaginal atrophy. However, if you have not been through menopause yet and are interested in our treatment, it can help tighten stretched vaginal tissue (which is known as vaginal laxity) that can often result after childbirth.
