Founded in 1979 and led by a board of community-based volunteers, the Foundation has provided more than $40 million in support for the hospital. In recent years, the Foundation was instrumental in building the Berger Tower, equipping a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Lab, expanding the Maternal Child Health Center and supporting development of the new 155,000 square foot North Tower, which is the latest step in supporting the Next Generation of Care at Methodist Hospital.

❤️ In honor of World Breastfeeding Month, we’d like to introduce Jackie - a mom from USC Arcadia Hospital’s free Mommy & Baby Bistro breastfeeding support group.

Hear more about her journey:
“I was a few months into new parenthood and my breastfeeding journey when I joined the Mommy & Baby Bistro for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was looking for resources and community and figured it was worth trying. I immediately found both. The group helped support me in navigating all kinds of challenges and milestones, like dealing with my son's cow milk protein allergy and reflux, the transition back to work, and getting services to address developmental delays. When I had my second baby this summer, I came back to the group right away, and I'm looking forward to taking this journey on in community again!”

Thank you, Rebecca, for allowing USC Arcadia Hospital to be part of your family’s journey. 💗

In honor of , hear her testimonial on the free breastfeeding support group:

“As a mom of three kids, I assumed that after my first breastfeeding journey each one afterwards would be easier, however I was met with a new journey with each newborn.

Mommy and Baby Bistro has helped me feel supported through each of my children’s breastfeeding journeys. Each journey has had its ups and downs whether it be a latch issue, tongue tie, clogged duct, under supply, over supply, returning to work, etc. I was allowed to ask questions, meet with other moms with shared experiences, track weights, milk transfers, and learn from Yolanda’s recommendations. I was also able to offer insight to other moms based on my past experiences.

In Mommy and Baby Bistro I felt supported in more ways that I can possibly explain. I felt heard and was able to breastfeed and/or pump for longer than I had ever anticipated with each child. I am able to continually learn something new and feel a sense of community each and every time I am able to join virtually or in person.”

❤ Staff Spotlight: Sharly, RN – Labor & Delivery ❤

In honor of World Breastfeeding Month, we celebrate Sharly, a dedicated Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse at USC Arcadia Hospital. She supports moms through one of the most important moments of their lives.

Her advice for patients who may feel nervous about birth:
“It is absolutely normal, and expected, to be nervous. As an L&D nurse, I encourage my patients to ask all the questions they can think of. It’s important to me that my patients comprehend every aspect of their care. My job is to provide my patients with all the information necessary to make educated, informed decisions for a memorable and safe birthing experience. To all my patients, this is your birth story and it’s always a privilege for me to be a part of it.”

Thank you, Sharly, for providing compassionate care every day.

This World Breastfeeding Month, USC Arcadia Hospital is proud to celebrate programs that support moms and babies in the community. The free Mommy & Baby Bistro empowers moms on their breastfeeding journeys.

Ines shared her experience:
“I’m so glad I joined Mommy & Baby Bistro. This support group has helped me cut through the overwhelming amount of information online and focus on what my baby truly needs. More importantly, the love and encouragement from Yolanda (Lactation Consultant) as well as other moms who are going through the same journey has made me feel less alone—and a lot less overwhelmed. Being part of this group has also helped me become more confident and independent with my baby, while giving me a reason to get out and enjoy some fresh air. I truly believe it’s essential to understand how breastfeeding works so you can find what’s right for your body, rather than getting lost in all the conflicting advice out there.”
