Our ophthalmology researcher, Dr. Qifa Zhou, received the IC-UEBA 2025 Achievement Award!

He received the award at the 16th International Ultrasound Engineering Conference for Biomedical Applications in Korea.

The award is “in recognition of his pioneering and sustained contributions to the advancement of ultrasonic transducer technologies, which have provided the foundational framework for many of today’s most impactful medical ultrasound imaging and therapeutic applications.”

Photos from the 4th Annual Narsing A. Rao, M.D. Endowed Lecture Dinner.

At the dinner, Hiroshi Goto, MD, PhD, Professor Emeritus at the Tokyo Medical University Department of Ophthalmology, received the 2025 Narsing A. Rao MD Endowed Lecture Award. He received the award for his groundbreaking basic and clinical research in pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease, sympathetic ophthalmia and viral uveitis, and ocular tumors.

Yahoo! Life quoted Lernik Torossian, OD, FAAO, assistant professor of clinical ophthalmology, on factors to consider when choosing contact lenses.

“Not all contact lenses are suitable for every individual, especially those with astigmatism, and switching brands without proper discussion, guidance and evaluation can lead to discomfort, dryness, blurred vision or even increase the risk of eye infections,” said Dr. Torossian. She suggested if you’re considering a switch to make an appointment with your eye doctor first. “This ensures you get the proper fit and vision correction. It’s essential to prevent complications.”
