Hey DeSoto! Is your high school student interested in a career in healthcare? GSAHEC’s REACH Student Program is coordinating FOUR Health Careers Academies in partnership with DeSoto Memorial Hospital, HCA Florida Blake Hospital, HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, and Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. These academies are designed to provide high school students a rare and unique opportunity to explore a variety of health occupations. Participants learn through hospital tours, chats and hands-on activities with healthcare professionals, discussion groups with fellow students, and reflective learning assignments. These experiences help students increase their knowledge about health care and motivates the students to develop effective short and long term educational and career plans.

Pi Day was celebrated early this year. We extend our gratitude to our staff for their pie-baking contributions to the contest and to the DeSoto County Chamber of Commerce for judging. The contest winner was Penny Adamo with her outstanding Berry Delicious Pie. 🥧

We are excited to host a health fair today at Cross Creek RV park, with representatives from DMH Radiology, DMH Laboratory, DMH Pharmacy, DMH Wound Care, DMH Home Health, DMH Stroke Program, DMH Behavioral Health, Tidewell Hospice, DeSoto Health and Rehab, Suncoast Blood Centers, and the Florida Department of Health. It's always a great day at Cross Creek! We will be here until 2:00 pm, offering health screenings and collecting blood donations.
