My mom says that her dad always told her she could do anything, but failed to mention that she couldn’t do everything.

I don’t know that I have ever resonated with that more.

I have been trying to find the silver lining in all of this. Our classes were beginning to fill up, our teachers had regular students, and it was such a joy seeing the little ones playing.

And yet, I still chose to close our doors.

It is a decision that is filled with sadness. But, somehow I am still able to find some beauty in it, and maybe this is the studio’s last gift.

I was raised to be a doer. I was taught I could be anything and do anything and to never give up. To have grit and moxie and determination, to see things through. These were beautiful thing to be taught. And, they are also part of a mindset that has left me ragged and worn more times than I can count. A mindset that has keep me in jobs and relationships that were way past their expiration dates. I have spent years of my life hanging on to things that just weren’t right - far beyond when I should have let go.

I never wanted to be a quitter….

As I get older, as I find myself healing from other things I held onto for too long, I also find myself feeling a deep sense of gratitude for the gift of acceptance I have worked for so long to, well, accept… I am able to look back at the road I have traveled and marvel at the fact that maybe, just maybe, I am learning.

Maybe I am growing into someone who sees quitting as a beautiful honoring of myself and my boundaries and my limits, rather than a sign of weakness or failure.

So, today, I am standing by my decision to honor myself, to choose to do one thing wholeheartedly rather than a million things with half a heart.

Thank you all for your time, your vulnerability, your willingness to try something new and show up for yourselves. I hope that you continue down your paths of wellness and self-discovery, and that our paths meet again along the road.

In the meantime, I’ll be in the classroom, helping to cultivate the next generation of doers and thinkers and movers and shakers and world-changers.

I think it was always where I was meant to be…

I introduced myself recently as mother, teacher, studio owner, yogi, and FDN practitioner. And it's true - I do all of these things. But here's the thing, it's too much for one person to sustain.

And, I absolutely LOVE all of the things I do, and each of them feeds my soul and my passions in very different ways. Yet, I find that I'm doing too much and as a result, not doing any of them as wholeheartedly as I would like to.

As the year comes to a close and I reflect on what I want next year to look like, I have come to the hard decision to make a decision and narrow my focus from a floodlight to a torchbeam, and my classroom teaching is where I have decided to direct that focus on a professional level.

In light of that decision, I am hoping that there is someone out there who has always dreamed of owning a studio, who would love the opportunity to step into a relatively new, beautiful space with no up-front costs.

I am offering the studio with the following terms:

✨ No up-front cost to purchase the business or the equipment.

✨ The entire business and infrastructure is yours to run with - social media accounts, Mindbody, website etc - I will provide up to 20 hours of training on all of these.

✨ You must be approved by my landlords - they are amazing, btw :)

✨ You must provide proof of funds to carry the business for 8-12 months while revenue increases. We are a relatively new studio, and have approximately 100 clients registered with the studio and on our mailing list, but we are still growing and operating at a deficit.

✨ After 1 year, you will be expected to start repaying on capital investments of heaters, mirrors, equipment, etc either through a small monthly payment or a percentage of revenue. We will work out these terms before transferring the business.

I love this studio. I love teaching yoga. I love my landlords and this space and this little community that has started to grow. And, I know that right now, in this season of my life, this is the right decision for myself and my family.

If you are interested, please email me at Michelle@soulfirevitality.com with a little information about yourself, or call me at 707-273-6536 💛

We have one more killer teacher joining our team!

Chiara started her journey with yoga in 2015 in Goa, India. She says of her practice:

I fell in love with Ashtanga and I’ve practiced it constantly since then. Yoga deeply healed my body and mind in a way I couldn’t ever imagine. After I experienced how yoga changed and gave benefit to my health and my life in general, I decided to become a yoga teacher to deepen my knowledge in the field and learn more about it, but mostly to inspire other people to feel the power of this beautiful practice and be part of helping them feel the satisfaction when learning challenging poses or when perceiving the enjoyment and well-being that yoga brings in life.

I studied for my 200 hours TTC with Soma yoga institute where I improved my skills and learned about alignment and biomechanics of the body, about yoga history and culture and pranayama techniques. I hope I can transmit to you my passion for yoga and help you to find fulfillment in the practice

My vinyasa flow class is a thoughtfully designed sequence that begins with an energetic warm- up like sun salutation followed by a series of standing, balancing and seated poses. At the end to seal the practice we will connect with our breath, offering sometimes some pranayama techniques. Closing with a peaceful and relaxing Savasana with a soundbath healing background music to release stress and ground the body.

Let’s flow together! All levels welcome.

Catch Chiara Tuesday nights at 6:00 for a 75 minute unheated flow!

Some clarification on our pricing, with a little bigger photos 😂

The Room Rental is for folks to come in and practice in either the heated or unheated room with their own digital class or using our Down Dog Subscription (if you haven’t seen this app yet, it’s amazing!) The room rental length is 75 minutes, and these appointments can be booked on our website.

The new drop-in and class pack pricing options are good for weekly classes OR for room rentals!

The memberships are a recurring monthly charge, and do not have an enrollment fee - credit card and contracts are required for this option, but there is no minimum term. Please note that due to limitations in our software, these have to be purchased on site.

One-off events like workshops, sound baths, etc are NOT included in the memberships, but we are dedicated to keeping them affordable while also taking care of our people who put their time and love into these events 💛

We look forward to seeing you at the studio, and watching our sweet little community grow!

Just in time for our Grand Opening.... New Services AND New Pricing!

We are now open for independent practice and room rentals!!!

Born out of necessity during Covid, this service ended up being a beautiful blessing as the studio became something more than your typical yoga studio. It became a place where yes, we all would come together to share in a community practice with other real humans and teachers and engage in that beautiful collective sigh that comes with a really good class. AND, it also became a space where so many of the students came together to create a community of co-ownership. In this model, so many of our students would come in and practice alone or with each other, using digital media in our heated space to practice on their schedules, with their preferred style of practice.

When I moved back to Humboldt, despite the pandemic being over and studios being open again, I had a REALLY hard time finding a practice that aligned with my schedule and my preferences. And, I couldn't seem to practice at home - beyond the fact that I didn't have a heated space at home, I couldn't seem to practice without thinking about the dishes, and the laundry, and noticing my daughter's toys that were scattered about. There's just something about getting out of your own space that helps a gal settle in to an awesome practice!

Plus, after spending some time settling back into life in Humboldt post-legalization and learning more about how things have been changing up here, we have come to the realization that things are tough right now for so many of us in our community.

So, we have two new monthly pricing options to share with y'all!

1) We are offering twelve 75-minute room rentals/month for only $50/month. This includes access to our premium yoga subscriptions as well!

2) If you want to take live classes as well, we have a combined membership of twelve 75-minute room rentals AND unlimited classes for only $65/month.

Things are tight out there, y'all, and our only goal is to help our community feel a little better, live a little better, and love a little better. We got you 💛

It's been a while since I introduced myself!

My name is Michelle, and I am the owner of SoulFire Vitality. I am a mama, a yogi, and usually a total dork.

In my professional capacities, I am a functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner (FDN-P), a yoga teacher, and I teach second grade at a pretty incredible Waldorf-inspired charter school.

I started practicing yoga about 16 years ago, and was a die-hard Bikram student for about the first 10. I completed my first 200hr training for the 26+2 series in 2017 with Evolation Yoga, and opened my first studio in Fort Bragg 2 years later, in October of 2019 (not the greatest timing 😬).

I fell in love with Vinyasa during the pandemic when I was practicing a ton on my own, and completed an online Vinyasa training during the closure, bringing flow classes to my studio when we reopened post-Covid and completing a second 200hr training with Evolation last spring - this time for Flow.

I also spent much of the pandemic getting to the bottom of some long-term chronic health issues after discovering the world of Functional Diagnostic Nutrition, and ultimately went back to school to become a certified practitioner myself! It has been a game changer for me as it brings together data-driven labwork and holistic protocols to address the root causes of chronic health concerns.

Lastly, I am a lifelong learner and lover of hard questions, and in addition to holding a BA, MA, and a couple of teaching credentials, I find myself constantly acquiring more books than I have time to read and delving deep into beautiful conversations with other humans.

I talk about big things and true things and the things that carry a lot of weight for me because I believe that doing so empowers others to share their own stories - and, I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for all the women before me who have dared to share their truths.

I sold my studio in Fort Bragg last year, and after a year of regrouping after some big, hard life changes I am ecstatic to be back in Humboldt rebuilding a sweet little studio community in the place that has always asked me to grow into the best versions of myself!

It just keeps getting better around here, my loves!

Faith is joining our team as well, helping us out short term in the childcare room, and staying on long term to teach yoga!

Faith is a certified holistic nutritional coach who strives to connect mind with body. Her own yoga journey started six years ago after a major back injury. As she went on her own path to heal both mind and body she found a passion and connection between yoga and nutrition. Faith has combined her skills of nutritional coaching along with her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate to educate on a new kind of healing rooted in mindfulness and self-awareness. Faith is originally from Minnesota, but recently moved to the area with her husband and two corgis.

Join Faith Sunday nights at 6:00pm for a candle light slow flow. This class will bring you warmth and recovery through movement and breath, preparing you for the week ahead. Her class debuts this coming Sunday, December 3rd at 5:30pm as a wrap-up for our grand opening weekend.

Come check her out!
