Struggling to squat because of an injury?
Slow things down and reduce the weight. Tempo squats turn rehab into an opportunity to improve form and control while still building strength—especially when heavy loads aren’t appropriate (yet). Try counting 4 seconds on the way down and pausing at the bottom for 4 seconds.

🪑 5x Sit-to-Stand Test
The 5 Times Sit-to-Stand (5xSTS) isn’t just about leg strength — it’s a powerful falls risk indicator.
⏱️ What the time tells us:
• ≤ 12 seconds → Lower falls risk
• > 15 seconds → Increased risk of falls
• Unable to complete without arms → High concern for functional decline
Why?
Standing up repeatedly challenges:
✔️ Lower-extremity strength
✔️ Balance & postural control
✔️ Coordination & reaction time
Slower times often reflect weakness and reduced stability — two major contributors to falls, especially in older adults.
🛑 Identifying risk early = opportunity to intervene with strength, balance, and mobility training.
