Happy Saint Patrick's Day.
Did you know.... According to lore, the wearing of the green tradition dates back to a story written about St. Patrick in 1726. St. Patrick (c. AD 385–461) used the shamrock to illustrate the Holy Trinity and worn green clothing. And while the story is unlikely to be true, many will revel in the Irish heritage and eat traditional Irish fare, too.

We are saddened to share the passing of Robert “Rob” Paul Black, 70, of Dickson City, who passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Rob will be remembered for his love of books, long conversations, ci**rs, shooting pool, and—most of all—his family, especially his grandchildren.

A celebration of Rob’s life will be held Sunday, February 15, from 2:00–6:00 PM at Volunteer Hose Company No. 3, Throop.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites guests to bring photos and memories to share. ❤️

Robert Paul Black, 70 of Dickson City passed away unexpectedly Wednesday night February 4th, 2026. Rob loved a good book, long conversations, ci**rs, and shooting pool. He shot pool for the Shopa Davey in the Mid Valley league for over 25 years and for Bottlers Tavern in the Endless MTN

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John “Jack” Golaszewski, 87, of Scott Township, who passed away Saturday surrounded by his loving family. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of faith who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, February 11, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the Rapoch Semian Funeral Home, Archbald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 12, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint John Vianney Parish. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
