They grow up so fast. 🐔 At 18 weeks, your hens officially reach adulthood and start laying. That means it’s time to swap to a complete layer feed.

We've got a few tips to help you make the switch.

1. Choose a layer feed that matches your goals.
2. Transition gradually over one week.
3. Once switched, stick to a consistent routine.

When feeding your flock, aim for 90% complete feed and no more than 10% treats each day.

What does that look like in action? Laying hens typically eat about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of complete feed daily. So, when following the 90/10 rule, treats should be limited to roughly two tablespoons per bird.

To wash or not to wash? That is the eggsistential question. 🤓

🥚 Unwashed eggs have a natural coating (called the cuticle) that lets them safely sit on your counter for up to two weeks.

🥚 Washed eggs need refrigeration to stay safe and they can last up to two months.

How do you store your eggs? Drop a pic in the comments! 📸
