Anyone who's become a family caregiver can tell you it can happen over night...

Maybe it's tasks building up over time...
Maybe it's the frequency of required visits...

But most often, family members are thrust into caregiving roles due to a sudden health crisis or a medical emergency - think fall, cardiac event like a stroke or an acute infection🚑

It's important to be ready for the when, not the if...and know that there is help out there💚

FACT:
66% of spousal caregivers provide care without any unpaid or paid help*

Caring for a spouse is frequently higher intensity, providing care 24/7 to your loved one. This takes a mental and physical toll on a spouse doing double duty as a partner and a caregiver.

The best thing you can do for yourself, your family & your spouse is ask for help.

Our caregivers are ready to lend a hand.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT...
January is
Yep. It really is!

This may be a major stressor for your loved ones as Mom and Dad live independently.
There are steps you can take to make bathing safer.

🚿 Make sure there's ample & easy lighting in the bathroom
🚿 Install grab bars / safety rails to reduce fall risk
🚿 Toss throw rugs and use non-slip mats instead
🚿 Add a shower chair to the bath
🚿 Consider a walk-in shower option

Ask us about a free in-home consultation.

Our RN Care Managers can help you
evaluate your space and determine
what could make the space safer for your loved one.

2nd Family: Our Story

Founded by Friends with a shared core value...Family

Friends for over 20 years, 2nd Family Main Line founders, Sean Killeen & Emily Glowicki RN, BSN, recently discovered each of our grandmothers required in-home care. Sean’s grandmother, Eileen, lovingly known as “Minxie,” suffered from a stroke and needed 24-7 care for over 16 years. Emily’s grandmother, Mary, lovingly known as “Grams,” suffered from Alzheimer’s for over 6 years.

Our families worked tirelessly, for years, arranging family and caregivers schedules. We dealt with call-outs, complicated medical care, in-home care, and overall scheduling logistics that, ultimately, created round the clock work for many family members.

Together, we wanted to create a solution that offers families the highest quality care to relieve the burden for families going through similar experiences. Watching our families’ hard work and dedication to our grandmothers created the foundation for our 3-pronged approach to home-care:
