Here is a peppermint oil which has been shown to help with IBS pain and other GI symptoms . New data shows it can also increase Quality of Life of patients with IBS ( Chey, 2022). A recent survey showed IBGuard improved overall bowel function (96.7%), confidence in managing IBS ( 94%), looking forward to enjoying a meal ( 87.3%) social activity engagement ( 86.7%) and work attendance (82.1%) (Chey, 2022). This study was funded by Nestle Health Science.

Israeli Cous- cous is really pearls of pasta. ( It is not gluten free) . What makes this grain fun, it that it cooks in just 12 minutes. The cooked pasta can be mixed with 1/2 c chopped olives and 1/2 c chopped fired red peppers. I found both in a jar ready to use! Add some fresh herbs- I tried some Thai basil and salt and pepper and olive oil to taste!

April is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Awarenesses Month, created to focus on health messages about treatment, diagnoses and quality of life issues. I have spent this last year deep diving into the diets around IBS and symptom management. What I have discovered is that one of the most effective diets to decrease bloat, pain, diarrhea and or constipation has been the Low FODMAP Diet. It has over 70% effectiveness in managing IBS symptoms.

You may be wondering how after over 30 years in the business, I got into IBS Management and the Low FODMAP Diet! The answer is quite simple- patients who find out that they are sensitive to some foods show an increased quality of life when they find out what those foods are!
