Jennifer Santaniello - Therapist
I have a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from New York University. My educational training and clinical experience have focused on integrating psychotherapy, visual arts practice and engaging the creative power of art for clinical assessment and treatment. My practice promotes scholarly research and evidence-based interventions, with an appreciation for cultural diversity and social justice issues.
I am affiliated with a NY based Psychiatric Hospital where I regularly provide art therapy and psychotherapy within a highly structured multidisciplinary inpatient program serving children and adolescents who require a highly structured therapeutic setting. Usually, this is due to severe emotional and/or behavioral difficulties, for children and adolescents who are temporarily unable to be maintained in a more traditional academic and /or treatment setting.
Additionally, I have experience providing art therapy and psychotherapy to the HIV/AIDS, substance abuse and mentally ill adult populations in both residential and jail settings.
I am committed to providing the highest standard of quality care, and my experiences has given me a deep understanding of mental health issues and their impact on patients, families, and their communities. My adaptability enables me to work with patients affected by a wide range of mental illnesses, those with developmental delays, individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and cross-culturally in a variety of settings
My ability to help create a secure and therapeutic environment provides patients with the tools necessary to improve their quality of life and enables them to live more authentically.
