Here’s a crazy thought: what if movement is the cure to your pain instead of rest? 🤔
Resting too long after an injury can cause a host of problems: stiffness, weakness, poor blood flow, and a fear of movement.
This triggers a cycle of less movement and more pain 😩
By introducing safe movement early, we can stop that cycle from forming!
Movement truly is medicine: bringing blood flow (read: oxygen and nutrients) to the area, maintaining mobility and strength, AND promoting positive emotions around moving.
When I say that one of my main jobs as a PT is to give you permission to move, I mean it. It can make all the difference, preventing that acute/short term injury from turning into a long term/chronic pain.
