I don’t post much anymore. Life seems to be moving at light speed right now. And, there are already so many voices that have so many good things to say. I do have this on my heart today especially at this season. I think somebody may need it today.
Courage … the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., inspite of fear and internal and external obstacles.
In our society we call sports stars courageous if they do unusual things within their skill sets. Michael Jordan having his best games when he has the flu and can barely stand. Playing through the pain because our team needs us and even with ailment it is better to be a part than to not be there at all. There is some merit to saying that they are courageous and be inspired.
Then there are truly courageous moments. The firefighters risking their lives in that moment to save a life that would otherwise perish. That is truly a courageous moment.
Today I want to shout out to all the people that live hanging by a thread or really struggle with physical and emotional pain that is either not going away or isn’t going away quickly or in the time frame you hope. I want you to know that you are courageous. You chose to get up everyday, try to put a smile on your face and make the most of it.
The single dad or mom that gets no thank yous, doesn’t know how ends will meet or presents will get under the tree. Who believes/ hopes that things will work out but finds no light at the end of the tunnel. Yet, you keep going. You keep fighting.
The couple who loves each other dearly and yet struggle to connect. Who wonder sometimes if they should have been together but realize it’s the human condition and keep trying because they believe they are better together than apart.
The family who has lost a parent or a child and their world is upside down with no level in sight. Who would give anything to have the person back even for a brief moment.
For the person who feels all of life and hell are against them at every turn and yet find the hope and tenacity to live one more day. To put a smile on a sad face, to give five of their last ten dollars. To sacrifice even when they themselves need help.
Your names will never be in headlines. Your faces may never be known to anyone other than Jesus and those you engage.
Just know that YOU are Courageous! You are known and you have infinite value. Jesus woke me up this morning with a clear burden to articulate to whoever reads this that you are courageous. And you are valued and loved. He sees and knows your name.
You are what makes your world and society matter because you stay in the struggle and you make the world a better place!
My prayer is that when you look in the mirror of life and see all that is wrong know that He sees all that is right and that making mistakes doesn’t make you any less COURAGEOUS!
