Do you ever wonder what your therapist is doing when they’re not in session?

There are a lot of “behind-the-scenes” duties that are on our to-do list. Some of those duties include completing session notes, updating paperwork and consent forms, staying current on research, attending trainings, juggling our schedules, advocating for clients like calling doctors or insurance or school counselors, collaborating and case consultations with other therapists, and even gathering resources for future sessions.

When we’re not doing any of that, we are being human. Between sessions you can see is drinking coffee, having a quick snacks, taking bathroom breaks, handling our personal lives, attending our own therapy sessions, and hopefully participating in self-care.

Therapy doesn’t end just because your session does. 💜

Anyone up for a game of charades with Courtney?

Charades can be more than just a fun game, it can be therapeutic. It can help get us more comfortable in our bodies, can help us convey our emotions or events without relying on verbal expression, and can increase skills such as impulse control and problem-solving!

We love finding everyday metaphors that make big concepts feel accessible. The Ransom Notes game, where you build messages by selecting and rearranging words, is similar to how our minds work.
When we’re anxious or overwhelmed, our brains often do something similar.

Our brains can select certain words (“always,” “never,” “failure”) and leave others out (“learning,” “temporary,” “trying”). The story we end up with can feel threatening, even when it’s incomplete.

Healing our irrational beliefs is often about re-authoring the message:
-Slowing down to notice which words we’re choosing
-Challenging the ones that don’t fit the full picture
-Intentionally adding language that’s more accurate and compassionate.

Just like in the game, a small change in wording can completely change the meaning.

2026 is FIVE days away!

As we head into the new year with new resolutions and new plans, it is important to reflect back on 2025.

What was accomplished and what didn’t? What worked and what didn’t? What did you like about 2025 and what needs to change for 2026?

Let’s talk about Holiday Bloopers.

Holidays can be full of expectations. Sometimes those plans may, not only not go as planned, but can be complete and total fails.

Trying to find humor in the mess ups can keep joy the present in the holidays 🎄

The holidays can look joyful on the outside, yet feel tangled on the inside. Between the errands, planning, cooking, and all the wrapping, stress can overwhelm the peace and joy of the Holiday season.

It’s okay if your joy comes in curls and knots instead of perfectly wrapped packages. Rest when you need it. Set boundaries without guilt. Reach out when it feels heavy.
Your wellbeing just as much as the celebrations.

An important reminder that when it comes to healing, time is necessary. Even, Physical wounds take time when a healthy body is working 24/7.
Allow yourself to the time, tools, and help it takes to heal emotional wounds too.
