We are not accepting new patients for routine care at this time.

We will still be available for medically focused ocular or sight threatening emergencies for both new and existing patients.

This may include infections, injuries, management of mild glaucoma, or sudden changes in vision such as flashes/floaters/double vision but will not include updated glasses/contact lens prescriptions.

The lack of eye care providers in the region has simply put us at maximum capacity for now.

Please plan ahead and out of respect for our time and the time of other patients, be as diligent as possible with canceling/rescheduling.

Schedule your back-to-school appointments soon! Our first routine appointments are booked out into early August.

Just a couple of reminders because our scheduling looks different than it has in years past.

- There are simply fewer optometrists in the region than in previous years and therefore fewer exam openings. Another limitation is that our location has only one optometrist and one exam room. We will not sacrifice our quality of care by overloading our schedule.

-With our schedule booked out so far, we are no longer able to accept walk-in routine exams.

-If you make an appointment and are unable to come, please let us know as soon as you can as a courtesy to other patients. We do have an appointment waiting list and having enough notice allows us to work through that list.

-We do keep openings daily for medical emergencies. These emergency slots are only for ocular or permanently sight threatening issues such as infections, injuries, or sudden/drastic changes in vision. New glasses or contact lens prescriptions will not be given at these times.

-Please plan ahead. We thank you for your support and understanding as we continue to enjoy calling Arkadelphia home and to serve our neighbors as best we can.

Our office will be closed Thursday February 24 through Wednesday March 2nd. We appreciate your understanding.

We wanted to pass along a few notifications as we continue to navigate COVID and restriction changes as the state moves toward reopening.

The first is that though the Governor lifted the mask mandate for public places, the guidance we receive from the Department of Health and the CDC still recommends wearing masks in health care offices. For the safety of all our patients, we will continue to require masks be worn in our office until this recommendation is lifted.

The second is that we are still experiencing unusually high patient volume and some scheduling restrictions. We cannot at this time accept walk-in appointments and our routine care appointments are booked out for several weeks.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Our office will be closed Tuesday February 16th due to the hazardous road conditions and on advice from local authorities to limit travel as much as possible.
We will assess daily this week whether we will be able to make it to the office.
Given the impending second wintry system and likelihood road conditions will not be improving, there is a very real possibility we will have to close additional days.
We will be contacting those with appointments by phone to reschedule. We appreciate your understanding and encourage everyone to stay in if at all possible to and stay safe!

We received notice that we will be able to resume routine eye care this week! Many of our office protocols will look different due to requirements from the Arkansas Department of Health.

- All patients will be screened, including a COVID-19 questionnaire and temperature reading.
- All patients and staff will wear a mask at all times.
- Our disinfection protocols have increased which will require more time and will change patient flow.
- We must limit the number of patients in the office. We can accommodate one patient at a time. There may be one additional companion only if necessary such as a guardian.
- We will not be able to accept walk-ins at this time.

We appreciate your understanding as we try to create as safe an environment as possible. We will continue to monitor for change and comply with all requirements handed down by the Arkansas Department of Health and State Board of Optometry.

04/02/2020

In compliance with recommendation from the Center for Disease Control, the Arkansas Board of Optometry, and the Arkansas Department of Health we will continue to be closed for routine exams until further notice, likely at least through the month of April.

We will still be available for emergency appointments. Please call and leave us a message with your complaint at (870)246-6877 or e-mail us at ByersEyeCare@gmail.com. Please refer to our previous post for full details.

We appreciate your understanding.

On Tuesday March 17th the Center for Disease Control announced their recommendation for the public to postpone routine dental and eye care visits (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/healthcare-facilities/index.html)

In compliance with that recommendation, beginning Monday March 23rd- Monday April 6th Byers Eye Care will be open by appointment only and for emergency visits only.

We will not see appointments for routine updates of glasses and contact lens prescriptions. Examples of an emergency visit would be an eye infection or injury, sudden loss of vision or double vision, and new onset flashes or floaters. Please don't hesitate to contact us for clarification.

We will not be in the office but will still be able to be reached by phone (870) 246-6877 and by e-mail ByersEyeCare@gmail.com . We will not be actively answering the phones. We will respond promptly to voicemails concerning emergency appointments.

We will not be placing orders for contact lenses at this time. If you need a copy of your prescription to order elsewhere, please e-mail us.

We appreciate your understanding during this time of uncertainty. Our motivation will always be the health and safety of our patients, particularly those populations who are most vulnerable.
