Suburban Associates is thrilled to welcome our new optometrist Dr. Andrew Peterson!!
Dr. Andrew Peterson earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014. Before pursuing his doctorate, Dr. Peterson spent nearly a decade with Suburban Associates in Ophthalmology (SAO), where he held a variety of roles—including ophthalmic technician, lead technician, and clinical supervisor—from 2013 to 2021.
He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2025, graduating Magna Cum Laude with honors as a member of both the Tomb and Key and Beta Sigma Kappa honor societies. Dr. Peterson is thrilled to return to SAO—this time as an optometrist.
His professional interests include contact lenses, myopia control, pre- and post-operative surgical co-management, and comprehensive eye care. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Peterson enjoys exploring Chicago with his girlfriend and their dog, Leo. He’s always open to new restaurant recommendations! In his downtime, he enjoys tinkering with his computer and playing online games with friends—though he admits he's not quite as good as he’d like to be. He is also a dedicated blood donor, having contributed over 40 times, and is an active member of the National Marrow Donor Program.
